Sababa 2021, St. Louis

Artists may submit to multiple categories, but each one requires a separate entry form and payment.

Artists working collaboratively must submit separate applications, unless applying as a team. If artists are accepted as a team they may only exhibit the collaborative work they were accepted for.

APPLICATION FEES
Each application must be accompanied by a $25 jury fee payment. Applicants may pay online by credit card. The non-refundable jury fee will be deposited on receipt.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: This is a blind jury process, all submitted images must be free of any identifying information, including name or photo of artist, or any artist contact information.

Five images and one (very) short essay are to be submitted for each application entered by the artist.

- Four images of individual pieces of work.
- One (required) image of a booth or display of your work. This image demonstrates overall continuity among the pieces and ensures a complete body of work. It also helps identify the scale of the work.
- If a booth image per se is not available, submit an image taken of a grouping of works in a gallery or other setting representative of the works to be exhibited at the show.
- Any work outside of the medium and context of the 4 images submitted which may appear in the booth shot would not be considered accepted by the jury, due to it's mere presence in the booth image.
- If artists have multiple bodies of work, please submit these in separate applications.
- Images must accurately represent the body of the artist's work to be exhibited at the arts festival.
- In your profile, please submit a statement on the following: What is your connection to the Jewish Community? NOTE: artists who feel any connection to Judaism are welcome to apply, regardless of religion. (230 characters or fewer)

FESTIVAL CATEGORIES
Ceramics: All original clay and porcelain work other than jewelry is accepted in this category. No machine-made or mass produced work is permitted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed each piece must be signed.

Digital Art: This category includes any original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Artwork must be in signed and numbered limited editions, on archival quality materials. Traditional photographs taken through a digital media should apply in the photography category.

Drawing: Works created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax crayon, etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush are to be entered in this category.

Fiber: All work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry and papermaking. This can be wearable or non-wearable. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns or other forms of mass production are permitted. No factory produced wearable items, regardless of additional modification or enhancement by the artist, may be exhibited.

Glass: No forms of mass production are permitted.

Jewelry: All jewelry whether the work is produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic or other materials must be entered in this category. No commercial casts, molds or production studio work is allowed.

Metalworks: Includes all non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metals. No mass production studio work is allowed.

Mixed-Media: This category includes works, both 2 and 3-dimensional, that incorporate more than one type of physical material to produce. Includes non-sculptural work as determined by the artist. No machine-made or mass produced work is permitted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed each piece must be signed.

Painting: Original works created in oils, acrylics, watercolor, etc. are in this category.

Photography: Photographic prints made from the artist's original image, which have been processed by that artist, or under his or her direct supervision, are included in this category. Artwork must be in signed and numbered limited editions, on archival quality materials. Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes.

Printmaking: Printed works for which the artist's hand manipulated the plates, stones or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition may be entered in this category. All photogravure, photocopy and/or offset reproductions, will be rejected. Printmakers are required to disclose both their creative and printmaking processes.

Sculpture: Three-dimensional original work done in any medium.

Wood: Original works in wood that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in the wood category.

JURORS
Art professionals will blindly review photos submitted in each category for acceptance to the show.

AWARDS/JURYING
Day of show jurying will begin at 10am and awarded by 11am with distributed ribbons. 1st prize allows automatic acceptance to the following Sababa.

An artist who is selected by the jury and accepts the invitation to exhibit, must return the non-refundable booth fee ($25) to the Arts Festival by Friday, August 12, 2022. Booth spaces are assigned on a first come/first served basis. Failure to respond by the deadline will result in revocation of the invitation and immediate invitation of an alternate from the waiting list.
