SHUTDOWN THROWDOWN Online Challenge & Exhibition

As humans, we have the ability to meet with great adversity and find a silver lining.

As artists, we have the ability to transform adversity into a source of motivation and inspiration for our work.

Whether you are spending this 'shutdown' reflecting, introspecting, or appreciating simple things that suddenly seem sweeter, we want to know how it is informing your art.

Creativity helps us all to heal, grow and have a little fun on the way.

Open to all 16yrs. and older. RAC Members: $10 for each piece up to 3; Art Angels (Life Members- enter as Art Angel): $2 for 1 piece, $1 for each additional piece up to 3; Non-Members: $15 for each piece up to 3. Entry Fee is non-refundable.

Submission Requirements:

Photos must be uploaded in .jpg format. The maximum file size is 5 mb. The minimum file size is 900 kb and the minimum image width is 1000 px.

There is no size restriction on entered pieces due to the fact that this will be an online show.

Work must be original, preferably completed during COVID-19 Shutdown, and not exhibited at RAC before. No giclees, other than for photography.

No renderings or copies of other artist's work.

RAC Policies:

Photographs of artwork may be used for publicity for the exhibitions. Please take a photo of your work before it is under glass to ensure that the photo does justice to it. You retain all rights to your work.

Chairperson's discretion: the chairperson may refuse any entry on the grounds of unsuitability.

Sales: At least one piece of artwork must be for sale. RAC will collect a commission of 30% on all sales. Shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer. RAC will be responsible for the shipping of sold art by local artists only, at the expense of the buyer. Non-local artists shipping sold work must be reimbursed by the buyer or waive shipping fees.

Sale of any work that has been posted as a part of this online exhibition must be processed through RAC during the duration of, and for a period of 60 days following the conclusion of the show if the buyer saw the work during the exhibition.

Waiver for Pictures Taken/Used: RAC documents each RAC exhibition with photographs. Entry into an exhibition at the Rowayton Arts Center constitutes permission to photograph you and/or your artwork, and to use an image of your artwork in promotional materials for the exhibition and for the Rowayton Arts Center.
