Heroes in Focus – Photographer Commission
Call for Photographers
Heroes in Focus, a non-profit dedicated to honoring veterans and serving members of the armed forces through portraiture, invites photographers to apply for a portrait commission opportunity.
The selected photographer will be awarded a $1500 cash commission to create a portrait of a veteran or currently serving member of the military. The finished work will become part of the Heroes in Focus archive, helping preserve the stories and humanity of those who serve through the medium of portrait photography.
This call is open to photographers who demonstrate a strong interest in portraiture, storytelling, and respectful representation of military service. We welcome submissions from emerging and established photographers whose work reflects both artistic vision and sensitivity toward their subjects.
The commissioned portrait should aim to capture character, dignity, and the lived experience of service, contributing to a growing visual record honoring those who have served.
Selected work may also be featured through Heroes in Focus publications, exhibitions, and online platforms, with full credit given to the photographer.
