Eligibility:
Open to any artist living and working in New England and eastern New York state.

September 18th: Accepted artists notified via email
November 5, 6 and 7 (12-3pm): Accepted work received at the gallery. Shipped works must be accompanied by a paid return mail label.
November 14 - December 19th: Exhibition Takes Place
December 20, 21, 22 and January 4, 5 and 6 (12-3pm daily): Removal of Work, Arrangement of Shipping. Works must be picked up, or shipping must be arranged, by January 6th. Works left at OVERLAP Art Space will become subject to a storage fee.

About our Exhibition Jurors:
Lesley Baker is a ceramic artist, sculptor and Associate Professor, Department Head and Graduate Program Director of Ceramics at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI with previous teaching experience at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN, UC Berkeley and the California College of the Arts. She has an undergraduate degree in architecture from Texas A&M University and a Masters of Fine Art in Studio Ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her current work explores the resilience and power of nature.

Bob Dilworth is an accomplished artist and teacher who has exhibited widely and earned many accolades. Most recently he was awarded a 2025 Joan Mitchell Fellowship, the 2026 James Solomon Russell/Saint Paul’s College Museum and Archives Award, the 2024 Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts and a 2023-2025 General Operating Support for Artists Grant from the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts. His work is included in corporate and private collections, as well as the Smithsonian Institution, the RISD Museum, the Newport Art Museum, the Fitchburg Art Museum, and other public institutions. Dilworth earned an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. He is Professor Emeritus, Department of Art & Art History at the University of Rhode Island, where he taught for 28.5 years until he retired in 2020. Dilworth now lives in Providence, RI where he works as a full-time visual artist, represented by Cade Tompkins Projects.

Harry Philbrick is the executive director of the Newport Art Museum. He has spent the last three decades leading various distinguished arts institutions including The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum, and The Fabric Workshop and Museum. In 2016, Philbrick founded Philadelphia Contemporary, a visual and performance arts nonprofit that connected the community through place-based installations and programming.

Application Requirements:
$15 entry fee
At least one but as many as three high quality images of 1 - 3 artworks. A “set” of objects (such as a set of glasses) is considered a single artwork. (2000px on the longest side)
A short (250 words or fewer) statement about the work, including how it relates to the theme of food and community.



Rules and Regulations:
Entries must be original artworks completed within the last four years. All works in the exhibition must be for sale (no "price on request" allowed). Because of the fundraising nature of the show, we request that no work be priced higher than $1000 (and preferably less than $500). Three-dimensional works may not be heavier than 100 lbs. While there is not a firm size limit on submissions, space is limited and size may be taken into consideration by the jurors. Overlap Art Space reserves the right to reject works that are deemed unstable, that differ from the submitted digital image and or description of work, or that are not professionally presented.

Sales Commission:
This is a fundraising show with a 50% commission on sales. Artwork proceeds will be divided three ways. 50% of the sale price will go to the artist, 25% to The RI Community Food Bank and 25% to OVERLAP.

Notification:
Accepted artists will be e-mailed directly on or before September 18th. Names of artists who were accepted will also be listed on Overlap’s social media channels.

Delivery and Shipping:
Accepted submissions should be delivered to OVERLAP, 112 Van Zandt Ave between 12 and 3 on November 5, 6 or 7. Shipped works require a signature for drop off. Works delivered late will not be included in the exhibition. Shipping, and shipping insurance, costs are the responsibility of the artist. A paid return mail label must accompany work. Air float style boxes, or similar packaging, are strongly recommended for ease of unwrapping and rewrapping. Please do not use loose packing peanuts in shipping. If artwork cannot be repacked in original materials, the artist will be responsible for the cost to have OVERLAP pack and return the work. If packing materials and shipping payment are not included, the work will not be installed.
Removal:
All exhibited work must be picked up (or return shipping arrangements made) December 20, 21, 22 or January 4, 5 and 6 (12-3pm daily).

Insurance:
OVERLAP carries a blanket policy covering fire, theft, and breakage while the work is in the building.
