This is a call for art or ideas for art for a unique traveling/touring art exhibit organized by Ocean City Arts Center in South Jersey. OCAC has organized unique exhibits for over 60 years, with 12 exhibits in 2025. For this traveling exhibit individuals will truly experience the artwork by touching it, magnification and/or contrast! We are looking for talented artists to showcase their work in a tactile-friendly environment. This is a great opportunity to connect with art lovers and showcase your creativity in a new and interactive way. Do not miss out on this exciting call to be a part of something special.
This traveling exhibition MORE THAN TOUCH, A CONNECTION will engage the senses, with a focus on visitors who are blind or visually impaired. It will also provide sighted visitors with innovative ways to engage with art, while simultaneously cultivating a greater understanding and empathy towards the experiences of individuals who are visually impaired. This exhibition will be shown at Ocean City Arts Center, Ocean City, NJ (exhibition organizer); Riverfront Renaissance Arts Center, Millville, NJ; and Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University, Atlantic City, NJ.
Artworks in all media will be considered, with strong preference given to works that engage touch, sound, and/or include participatory elements. Do not submit work that cannot be touched. Proposals for new work or works-in-progress will also be considered. Each artist may submit up to three artworks for consideration. Must be at least 18 years of age to submit.
COMPENSATION:
Each artist selected for the exhibition will be paid a $150 honorarium after the artwork is delivered. Collaborative works created by more than one artist will receive only one honorarium. Artists will not receive multiple honoraria if multiple works are accepted. Artists must be legally eligible to work in the United States and have a U.S. mailing address to receive the honorarium.
Selected artists may be invited to participate in panel discussions, which are eligible for additional compensation. Artwork may be offered for sale, but all details of the transaction, including any applicable taxes, must be handled solely by the artist. No commission will be assessed. Work must stay through the entire run of the exhibit which ends March 28, 2027.
