Go Fly a Kite

Non-refundable entry fee is $25 for up to three entries. Pay online no later than February 7, 2027. Entrythingy uses PayPal to process credit card payments. Note that you do not need to log in with a PayPal account to pay by credit card.

Please submit your pieces together. NWCS incurs a cost for each form submission.

• Sales. We are considering this a NFS (not for sale) exhibition. Artists can arrange their own sales and if we receive purchase inquiries, we will connect the buyers to you. Works may be submitted as NFS (not for sale).

• Each entry must be created from one of 3 kit designs available from NWCS.

• Kites will be installed overhead, suspended by the kite frame. While we will have a wall-mounted poster with photos of the kites to facilitate voting for the People’s Choice awards, the primary way the public will engage with the kites is by viewing them from below.

• Refrain from using heavy materials such as stone, metal, or wood when creating your entry. NWCS and Cascadia Art Museum may refuse to install kites that are uncharacteristically heavy.

• Entries must be original, entirely created by the entrant, and not shown in a previous NWCS exhibit.

• All entries must be collage, defined as: an artistic composition made of various materials (e.g., paper, photographs, paint) glued onto a supporting surface.

• Please attach an index card (or other small piece of paper) to your kite with string in an unobtrusive location. This card should list your name, the kite’s title if applicable, and your phone number. We will have index cards available at drop off if needed.

• NWCS and Cascadia Art Museum reserve the right not to accept artwork they determine to be inappropriate. An example of art that might not be appropriate would be something that could be construed as a racial slur.

• Digital images of accepted work will be retained by the NWCS and may be used for show promotion.

• Image submission requirements: You will be allowed to submit one primary image and up to 3 additional views of each piece. Please photograph your entries against a white background such as a bedsheet tacked to a wall and allowed to drape onto the floor, providing a continuous backdrop. JPG or PNG only. Minimum size on the shortest side: 1080px. Maximum file size: 4mb; Minimum file size: 500k;

• If possible, please use the piece title(s) for your file name(s):

• For the show booklet, please make sure your Artist Statement, artist website (if applicable), and artist Instagram account (if applicable) are current in your Entrythingy profile. You can access this profile from the dropdown menu My Art. You can also include a short description of each piece. NWCS may use this information in promotional materials for the show, such as show booklets and social media.

• Due to the fragile nature of the pieces, we will not be accepting shipped works for this show or shipping them back to artists. Cascadia Art Museum cannot store boxes or packing materials so we will ask you to unwrap your pieces at delivery.
