Ranazul Restaurant La Galeria Gallery Show

This show is the first show of a hopefully long-term relationship between MAA and the Ranazul Restaurant with MAA artists providing pieces for periodic shows. Each show is approximately 1 month long with the drop-off, pick-up, and reception all occurring on Sundays. The exhibit space at the gallery will accommodate 20 to 30 pieces depending upon size.

All sales are handled through Ranazul and they take a 20% commission. MAA takes no commission and there is no fee to enter.

Key Dates:

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, April 22, midnight
Drop off and Hang Show: Sunday, May 6, 9:30 am
Reception: Sunday, May 13, from 4 pm to 5 pm.
Pick Up Artwork: Sunday, June 3, 10 am

Each participating artist will need to complete the Ranazul La Galeria Art Gallery Agreement. This document requests basic information about the artist and explains the policies of the gallery. This form will be emailed to those artists whose entry to this show is successful. The completed form must be handed in before artist work will be accepted at the drop-off.

Information requested in the form includes the artist social security number or federal identification number which would be used only in the case of sales; if you do not want to provide this number ahead of time, you can use available upon request, but if you sell something, you will have to provide it at that time.

Entry Details:

Only online show submissions from the MAA website will be accepted. Please follow the instructions located on the Resources page of the MAA website, www.MontgomeryArt.org , Registering Your Work Online for MAA Shows.

In submitting your online entry, images are not required--skip the 'Browse' line and hit 'Upload'. Titles and Media should have the first letter of significant words capitalized; prices with a $ and no cents. Please double-check your entry before hitting 'submit'.

Each artist may submit 1 piece ranging in size 11 x 14 inches to 20 x 24 inches, including the frame; basically pieces should be no smaller than 154 sq. in. and no larger than 480 sq. in. There is some room for variation in height but not width.

Entries submitted must be the original work of the artist. The hand of the artist must be visible and dominant in constructing the artwork. Photographic and digitally manipulated images are not acceptable unless they are used in a secondary manner to the artwork as a whole and clearly described in the media description.

No nudity and all subjects must be appropriate for a public family environment. MAA or Ranazul Art Gallery reserves the right to refuse to display any Artwork it deems incompatible with the nature and environment of the restaurant..

Works must have attached screw eyes and wires for hanging. Saw-toothed hangers on frames are NOT acceptable. Paintings on canvas do not require frames as long as the edges are painted or taped. No wet canvases.

Sales:

All sales will be handled by Ranazul and the artist will receive 80% of the selling price. Sold works must remain until the end of the show, and selling artists will receive checks from Ranazul 2 weeks from the end of the show.

Ranazul La Galeria Gallery Policies:

1. Ranazul requires that this ART GALLERY AGREEMENT be completed by all outside groups and or individuals to use the facilities. In the case of the Art Gallery this form is simply a formality and the pertinent sections have already been filled in.
2. The artist is responsible for the transport of works to and from the gallery.
3. For reasons of safety and security, delivery and pick-up times will be set to avoid conflicts during operating hours.
4. The Artist(s) shall defend, indemnify, and hold RANAZUL, RANAZUL,LLC, its officers, employees, and agents harmless from and against any and all liability, loss, expense (including reasonable attorney fees), or claims for injury or damages arising out of the performance of this Agreement but only in proportion to and to the extent such liability, loss, expense, attorney fees, or claims for injury or damages are caused by or result from the negligent or intentional acts or omissions of RANAZUL, its officers, employees or agents.
5. Either a social security number or federal identification number are required for the sale of artwork.
6. The Gallery will keep 20% of the sale price on any work sold from the exhibition. Please price your work accordingly. Sales tax will be charged to the buyer.
7. All sales transactions while the work is on exhibit are made through the Gallery and not directly with the Artist(s). There is no provision for Price on Request.
8. The Artist(s) may not change the sale price of a piece during the period of time that the piece is in the gallery.
9. The Gallery will not furnish Artist contact information to interested persons, but will forward to the Artist(s) the contact information of any person interested in the work of the Artist. If any referral by the Gallery to Artist(s) results in the sale of the Artist work to a client, Artist(s) agree to pay Gallery a 10% finders fee on the initial sale.
10. All works, including those that are sold, must remain on exhibit through the end of the last day of the show. Sales will be processed at the end of the show. The Artist(s) will receive a check within two weeks.
11. The Gallery will email an exhibition announcement. The Artist(s) can provide a photograph and an artist statement at least two weeks prior to the opening of the show. An artist biography may also be helpful in publicizing the show. The Gallery will send press releases to regional newspapers.
12. The exhibition announcement will be emailed to the Gallery mailing list. If the artist(s) provides an email list, the gallery will also email announcements to the artist email list.
13. La Galeria also has an Art Gallery Online internet page where the shows are publicized. The artist statement, biographical information, and, at the very least, low resolution images of the installation will be presented. At the artist discretion, the Art Gallery Online may also display low resolution images as examples of individual works by the artist.
14. The gallery will provide a one hour reception for the Artist(s).
15. An exhibit may be terminated and/or individual works may be withdrawn from display at any time at the discretion of the Gallery. Gallery reserves the right to exercise discretion with respect to public displays of art.
