2019 MAA Member Oasis Gallery Show

Open to all current MAA members. This show is the second event of the MAA-Oasis collaboration

Metropolitan Oasis and the Oasis Art Gallery are located inside the Macy Home Store at Westfield Montgomery Mall, 7125 Democracy Blvd., Bethesda, MD 20817.

The exhibit space holds about 65 artworks. If the show becomes over subscribed before the deadline, priority will be given to earlier entries - best to enter early!

About Oasis: Washington Metropolitan Oasis (https://www.oasisnet.org/Washington-DC-area ) and the Oasis Art Gallery are part of a national educational non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of adults age 50 and older through lifelong learning, health and wellness promotion and volunteer opportunities. Weekdays, the Oasis offices and gallery are busy with class attendees, registrants, art lovers, and Macy visitors and shoppers. MAA thanks Oasis for the opportunity to show the works of our members at this show.

Drop off: January 9 or 10th; 10 am to 4 pm
Show Hanging: Friday, January 11 at 10:30 am (hangers may bring their entries at 10 am)
Show Official Start: January 14
Reception: Saturday, January 26, 2 to 3:30 pm.
(We will be presenting a Viewer Choice Award at the reception.)
Show End: April 26
Pick Up: Monday/Tuesday, April 29 or 30; 10 am to 4 pm.

Entry Details:
A $5 non-refundable fee covers the cost for up to 2 entries, the maximum permitted per artist. If a piece is large, please enter only 1 piece.

Only online show submissions from the MAA website accepted. Please follow the instructions located on the Resources page of the MAA website, www.MontgomeryArt.org , 'Registering Your Work Online for MAA Shows.' In submitting your online entry, images are not required--skip the 'Browse' line and hit 'Upload'.

Note: if you would like to support MAA publicity for this show by letting MAA use images of the pieces you are entering, please upload their images as part of your entry. By doing so, you grant MAA the right to use those images in its publicity related to the show.

Titles and Media should have the first letter of significant words capitalized; prices with a $ and no cents. Please double-check your entry before hitting 'submit'.

Entries submitted must be the original work of the artist. The hand of the artist must be visible and dominant in constructing the artwork. Photographic and digitally manipulated images are not acceptable unless they are used in a secondary manner to the artwork as a whole and clearly described in the media description. MAA or Oasis Art Gallery reserves the right to refuse to display any Artwork it deems incompatible with the nature and environment of the Oasis Art Gallery.

Volunteer service, such as with show hanging, reception logistics, bringing refreshments to the reception is needed and strongly urged for this show. By submitting an entry, the artist agrees with the rules of the show as presented.

Works customarily hung must be framed and already attached with screw eyes and wires for hanging. Saw-toothed hangers on frames are NOT acceptable. Paintings on canvas do not require frames as long as the edges are painted or taped. No wet canvases. Works larger than 20 x 28, if not pastels, should be glazed with Plexiglass (or equivalent).

Only 3D works that can be easily hung on a wall and wired for picture hooks can be accommodated in this show.

Sales:
Entries must be priced and available for sale. The artist will receive a check for the full amount of any sales but is then requested to donate 30% of the selling price to Oasis. Sold works must remain until the end of the show, except under extenuating circumstances.

Note: Care will be taken by MAA volunteers and Oasis personnel in hanging and securing the show. However, neither Oasis nor MAA will be held responsible for any loss or damage. Artists are advised to have their own insurance.
