Open to all MAA members. ONLY 2 ENTRIES PERMITTED PER PERSON DUE TO SMALLER DISPLAY SPACE IN THE CENTER

Show Location: Friendship Heights Village Center, 4433 South Park Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815

Registration Deadline: Friday, May 19 at midnight. No late entries accepted. Registrations MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE using the facilities available on the MAA website (www.montgomeryart.org). Fees may be paid online by credit/debit card during registration or can also be paid by check (payable to MAA, Inc. and sent by mail to Elizabeth Stecher, the Show Registrar, at 10812 Margate Road, Silver Spring, MD 20901).
Please follow the instructions located on the Resources page of the MAA website, www.montgomeryart.org, 'Registering Your Work Online for MAA Shows' . In submitting your online entry, images are not required--skip the 'Browse' line and hit 'Upload'.

Please double-check your entry before hitting 'submit'. Training and personal assistance with registration will be provided on May 14, 4 to 8 pm at the MAA Gallery in Westfield Wheaton; contact Cathy Hirsh at [email protected] if interested in getting assistance/training.

Drop off Artwork: Sun, June 5, 10:30 - 11:30 am

Judging: Sunday, June 5, at noon

Show Hanging: Immediately after the judging

Reception & Awards Presentation: Sunday, June 12, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. (Judge remarks/award presentation begin at 12:30 pm.)

Pick Up Artwork: Sunday July 10, 10:30 - 11:30 am. (Contact the Show Registrar (or work with other participants) if you need to make alternative arrangements for drop-off or pick-up. There are no storage facilities at the Village Center.

Eligibility: Current MAA members. Only ORIGINAL works that have NOT BEEN EXHIBITED in any previously judged MAA show. Works must be framed and with screw eyes and wires for hanging. No wet canvases. Works larger than 20 x 28 should be framed with plexiglass. The hand of the artist must be visible and dominant in constructing the artwork. Photographic and digitally manipulated images are not acceptable unless they are used in a secondary manner to the artwork as a whole and clearly described in the media description. Tastefully-done nudes (no explicit views) are permitted. The Judge, MAA, and the Friendship Heights Village Center reserve the right to reject inappropriate works.

Volunteer service or bringing refreshments to the reception is required to participate in this show. For more information and to discuss volunteering, contact the MAA Show Registrar, Elizabeth Stecher ([email protected]).

If a submitted piece should be rejected, the artist will be told when the work should be picked up.

Subject Categories: Landscape; Portrait (People or Animals); Still Life; Abstract and 3-dimensional; Miniature (no larger than 8 inches x 10 inches including frame).

Fees: $10 non-refundable fee covers the cost for 2 entries. Awards: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention awards are given for each of the categories listed. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd awards receive monetary prizes.

Judge: Our Judge will be Debra Halprin. Debbie is an award winning artist whose works have been accepted into numerous invited shows. She is the proprietor of A Work of Art, which provides high quality giclee printing services, and commissioned art work. Debbie also managed the MAA Kensington Labor Day show for many years.

Sales: Friendship Heights Village Center personnel will handle sales. Maryland Sales Tax of 6% is charged in addition to sale price. Checks are written to the artist by purchasers and the artist is responsible for paying a 20% commission to Friendship Heights and the State Sales Tax to the Comptroller of MD. Sold works must remain until the end of the show.

Security: Reasonable care and security will be provided solely by Friendship Heights Village Center. Neither they nor MAA will be held responsible for loss or damage. Artists are advised to have their own insurance.

By submitting an entry, the artist agrees with the following statement: “I am paying all fees and certify that I agree to the rules of the show as presented. Entries submitted are my original work. I will not hold MAA or Friendship Heights Village Center responsible for any loss or damage to my art work while on the property.”
