Longue Vue House and Gardens announces its call for artists or artist teams from Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, Baton Rogue, and Tangipahoa parishes to submit work for the an Exhibition, design, fabrication and installation of a sculpture(s) for their Discovery Garden space for children.
The Discovery Garden is a one-half acre hands-on, interactive garden designed for children of all ages to experience the wonders of nature and the role of plants in their daily lives. It is Longue Vue’s intent that the commissioned work(s) will animate discussions and be used as a learning tool to explore art and materials in our daily environment
Pieces are encouraged to be bright and engaging.
All pieces should be safe, non-combustible, no pinch points, sharp edges, corners, and child friendly.
The pieces should be easily installed and structurally designed to be outdoors.
Pieces will be outside and exposed to a variety of elements and weather conditions.
Pieces can be kinetic
Pieces can be made of organic material.
Pieces should provide a positive impression on children and visitors.
Artists are encouraged to come to Longue Vue to see the Discovery Garden prior to submission deadline
