LELA International proudly announces its 45th annual peace exhibitions, in remembrance of the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki. We call for entries on the theme “Expressions of Peace,” to be held at the Makery Gallery in Los Angeles August 4 through 25, 2024.
As we have for the past 44 years, LELA members and friends will be contributing work to the Nagasaki Prefecture Art Gallery for display during the month of August. Our visionary founder and renowned artist, Hideo Sakata, began this international collaboration. Our mission is to oppose war, offering communication and a shared desire for peace to all people and all countries.
LELA warmly invites artists to participate and exhibit with us in August at the Makery. We encourage you to carefully review the instructions provided and don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Entry fee is $35 for paid LELA members, $45 for non-paid members. Artists may submit up to 3 images consistent with the theme Expression of Peace for consideration. All media will be considered except video. Maximum size for artwork is 36 inches in all dimensions. Please note that all work must be hand delivered to the Gallery on, Sunday July 28th between the hours of 12 pm and 2 pm. We have no facilities for accepting shipped work, nor can we return work that is not picked up. We welcome artists from outside the SoCal area, as long as pickup and return have been prearranged.
In addition, as part of our effort support international peace and harmony, LELA International is hosting a fundraising event at the Makery Gallery on August 4th. This silent auction of works donated by LELA friends and members will support our ongoing mission: advocating for peace through art.
If you are interested in contributing to the silent auction, please contact us. The pieces can be on any subject, and are not limited to the theme of Expressions of Peace. The size should be 20 inches or less in any dimension, 2-D work, and ready for hanging. Maximum price will be $300.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you will be participating in the silent auction. Donated pieces will be displayed in the Founders room at the Makery throughout the month of August. Please email up to 2 images to [email protected].
