Art at the Station

Organization: Kirkwood Arts Commission Location Kirkwood Train Station , MO Entry Fee Paid Entry Deadline November 10, 2019
OVERVIEW
Art at the Station is a Kirkwood Arts Commission, City of Kirkwood and Kirkwood Arts Foundation visual arts project that provides opportunities for artists from the St. Louis Metroplex area to exhibit their work in a unique setting. It is part of an overall effort to sponsor the arts and participation in the arts for the benefit of Kirkwood Community and the larger Metroplex area.
Each year, a jury selects up to 6 artists (art groups may also apply) from among all the artists who have submitted work per the Call for Entry application and meet exhibition requirements. Each of the selected artists will have the opportunity to show their work at the Kirkwood Station for one month (January to September). Applicants’ submissions of two-dimensional artwork can range in style from realism to surrealism to abstraction. Also, the artwork can be site specific. Artists in the Kirkwood and Saint Louis Metroplex area, regardless of experience, are encouraged to submit an application.
The site of the exhibition, the Kirkwood Train Station, is located in the heart of downtown Kirkwood and receives steady traffic from pedestrians and window-shoppers throughout the year. It is a historic building with its large windows and dark wood paneling. The Train Station operates as an existing Amtrak station, with passengers cycling in and out at least four times a day. During these times, the Art at the Station exhibition is available for public review.
Both art exhibitions and artists’ receptions are free and open to the public.
