Heidi Gallery at JSDD is excited to announce Contextual, a juried exhibition.

Contextual will feature works of art that contain both text and texture. Heidi Gallery seeks artists working in a wide variety of mediums, creating work that is dynamic, thought provoking and well executed.

About Heidi Gallery.

Established in 2021 as a key component of the state-of-the-art facility of JSDD, Heidi Gallery is 1,500 square feet of light filled space with adaptive walls, allowing for the broadest range and diversity of art mediums.

At Heidi Gallery the focus is on bringing artists and the public together to experience creativity and creative education while fostering a fully inclusive community.

All works not selected will be included in a digital show that will run concurrently with the physical exhibition in the gallery.

Heidi Gallery is located at 310 Eisenhower Parkway, Livingston, NJ.

Eligibility: Open to artists living or working in NJ, NY, PA and CT.
Entry fee: $35


Jurors.

Barbara M. Bickart:

Barbara M. Bickart is currently the Senior Advisor Arts and Culture for the NJ Economic Development Authority's
Community Development Division. In this capacity, she is helping to lead the NJEDA's efforts in arts, culture, and
creative placemaking by cultivating and implementing strategies at the intersection of arts and culture and economic
development. Prior to joining the NJEDA, she was visiting faculty and
Video Department Chair at the School of Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, Boston.
As a multi-disciplined artist Bickart's work has been exhibited in theaters, galleries, museums and public spaces globally, including locations
London, Argentina, Israel, Croatia, Australia, Russia, Romania, Uruguay, New York City, Philadelphia, San
Francisco, Los Angeles and Memphis.
Bickart has received multiple awards from the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation's Artists and Communities funding program,
fellowships and residencies from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation,
Artist Resource Media program of Dance Theater Workshop, NYC, New York State Council on the Arts, The Trust for
Mutual Understanding and the Wexner Center for the Arts.
Bickart received her M.A. from the New School for Social Research, New York City.


Adam Z. Swart:

Adam Z. Swart has an exhibition record consisting of both solo shows and group shows in numerous national and international exhibitions. He has shown alongside the likes of Robert Rauschenberg and Richard Serra, and his work is currently in private collections on four continents.
Swart has curated many exhibitions in NJ. The first was 'CULTURE SHOCK' at Maplewood's 1978 Gallery in 2005, which featured the work of NJ artists who were Returned Peace Corps Volunteers. He also co-curated an exhibition at Rutgers (Douglass College Library)and juried various exhibits including the Arts & Cultural Commissions in the state.
Swart earned his Bachelor's degree in Studio Art, concentrating in Painting and Printmaking, from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. In his senior year, Adam earned Honors, Departmental Honors, and Honors for the Senior Thesis Exhibition, as well as the Jesse Solomon Memorial Award, presented to Skidmore College's most outstanding painting student, as determined by faculty members of the Departments of Studio Art and Art History.
Adam Z. Swart also holds a Master?s degree in Art and Art Education from Columbia University's Teachers College (as well as a Master's in International Policy Management from Kennesaw State University) and has taught art and art history to all grade levels and age ranges. Swart has served as Visiting Faculty at Kathmandu University in Nepal, where he taught painting to third-year painting majors and presented a series of guest lectures.
