GSWS 2025 Fifty-Fifth Open Juried Exhibition

Membership and Entry Fee
Artists may submit up to two paintings. Only one painting may be accepted.

GSWS Members: $15 for 1st submission, $25 for 2 submissions.

Non-Members: $30 for 1st submission, $35 for 2 submissions.
All entry fees are non-refundable. Payment must be made at the time of your online entry with a credit or debit card.

Artist Statement
Artists are requested to include in a brief statement (maximum 530 characters) describing how their painting is related to the exhibition theme. Enter in the Statement Specific to Entry field in the General Entry Information Screen in EntryThingy.

Artwork Requirements:

Note: New Size Requirement

Minimum image size (do not include mat or frame) is 100 sq. inches ( height x width, ex: 9x12=108 sq. inches)
Maximum image size: not to exceed more than 60 inches on longest side
Paintings must be done in aqueous media: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein or egg tempera.
Paintings must be done on watercolor paper, YUPO, claybord or aquabord (no canvas allowed).
Use of pencil, ink or collage materials not created by the artist must not be dominant in the work.
Artist original work only. No digital media, photography, prints or reproductions will be accepted.
Framed works that are unstable will not be accepted.
No paintings previously shown in any GSWS exhibition.

Artwork Presentation:

Traditional Framing Under Glass or Plexiglass
If used, mats must be white or off-white. A small colored inner mat is acceptable.
Framed works larger than 36 inches on either side must be framed using plexiglass.
All framed artwork must be wired using D-rings and be ready for hanging, no sawtooth brackets or eye screws.

Mounted on Cradled Panel (not under glass)
Paintings on paper must be firmly adhered to a board or panel.
Paintings must be sealed and/or varnished.
Wood cradled panels must be at least 1½ inches in depth and have finished (non-raw) edges.
Paintings must be wired and ready for hanging, no sawtooth brackets.
Wood cradled panels may be wired using eye hooks screwed inside the cradle or use D-rings on the back of the cradle.

Digital Image Requirements
Digital image file(s) must be in JPEG or PNG format. Maximum file size up to 5MB.
Save image with a 300 dpi with 1950 pixels on the longest side.
The image must be correctly oriented, vertical or horizontal.
Show only the painted image, no mat or frame.
No digital enhancement is allowed. Image must not differ from the artist's original piece.
Name the image file: artist's LastnameFirstinitial_Title.jpg
