Small Works 2022 is a juried art exhibit organized by Georgetown Art Works. Georgetown Art Works is contracted by the City of Georgetown to manage the Georgetown Art Center and is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in the Greater Central Texas area.

Small Works will be held at the Georgetown Art Center in the historic district of Georgetown from November 11, 2022, through December 22, 2022.

Small Works 2022 will award cash or prizes for Best in Show plus additional cash or prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place.

Small Works 2022 is open to any artist 16 years or older residing in Texas.

CATEGORIES

2-D Representational: Subject matter is representational. All works must be no larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. Painting, watercolor, encaustic, acrylic, oil, mixed media, textiles, collage, gouache, ink, graphite, pastel, and printmaking (prints pulled by hand). No reproductions or giclees.

2-D Abstract: Subject matter is abstract. All works must be no larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. Painting, watercolor, encaustic, acrylic, oil, mixed media, textiles, collage, gouache, ink, graphite, pastel, and printmaking (prints pulled by hand.) No reproductions or giclees.

3-D: All works must be no larger than 12 inches in height, width, and depth on any side including base, and weigh no more than 4 pounds. Ceramics, sculpture, 3-D, assemblage, wood, metal, mixed media.

Photography/Digital: The output size of all artworks must not be larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. Output must be framed/mounted or in a format that may be displayed on a wall or shelf. All artworks must be original. Camera-generated photographic images, computer-enhanced digital images, digital collage or montage, digital & graphic design.

ATTENTION:
Artwork must have been created between January 1, 2019, through September 15, 2022 and must be marked for sale. Earlier works will be disqualified. Works that were accepted to the 2022 Art Hop open call will also be disqualified. Works marked Not for Sale or NFS will be disqualified.

Because of COVID-19 uncertainty and precautions, Small Works may be subject to viewing restrictions, rescheduling, or cancellation.
Entry fees are non-refundable.

JUDGES:
1st Round (Online Only): Assigned by GAC Exhibits Committee
Final Round: Amanda Still, Georgetown Art & Culture Coordinator

2-D, 3-D, and Photo/Digital FEES:
$35 entry fee - For up to 3 artworks
$50 entry fee - for 4 or 5 artworks

Artists are limited to a maximum of 5 entries per submission.

During the first round of judging, all entries will be scored online via EntryThingy by GAC Exhibits Committee. Artists whose entries score well are invited to participate in the Small Works exhibit and will receive instructions to hand-deliver or ship their work to Georgetown Art Center. If you have not received any notification by October 20, 2022, please check your junk or spam folder. The 1st round of online judging occurs in October and the second round of in-person judging occurs just before the exhibit opens and will determine placements and cash awards. Awards are announced at the Small Works reception ceremony 4:00-6:00 PM on Saturday, November 19.

With each submission:

FIRST - Please determine the best category for your entries: (2-D Representational or 2-D Abstract or 3-D or Photography/Digital). IMPORTANT: EntryThingy software permits only ONE category selection per each paid artist submission.

SECOND (optional): You may include a description of the work. This is not mandatory but can make a difference if judges have questions or need clarification during judging.

ELIGIBILITY SPECIFICATIONS:
Artists must own the copyright of artwork submitted. Only original art will be accepted. NO reproductions or giclees.

Accepted artwork must be available for the duration of the Small Works 2022 exhibit.

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS

2-D, Photography/Digital, Wall Pieces Artwork Requirements:
Artwork should be no larger than 12 inches on any side including frame. If artwork is framed, the frame must be included in the measurement. Each piece must be properly wrapped if shipped. Art must be ready to install with suitable hardware-preferably D-rings with wire.

3-D, Ceramics, Sculpture Requirements:
3-D pieces in any medium no larger than 12 inches on any side (including pedestal) AND no heavier than 4 lbs. If a sculpture includes a base, the base must be included in the measurement. We have a limited number of shelves & pedestals available for 3-D presentation.

LABELING:
Each entry must be securely labeled on the back of the art with the title, artist's name, and phone or email address.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR ARTWORK:
All artist entries are submitted and entry fees are paid through EntryThingy. Only jpg or pdf files are accepted. Images must be a minimum of 200kb and a maximum of 10Mb. Entry fees may be paid by credit card or PayPal.

*** IMPORTANT: Be sure to upload ALL images before clicking the submit button. When you finish uploading ALL art, click submit. You will be directed to a payment page and will not be able to return to make changes or add additional entries.***

2-D Representational 2-D Abstract 3-D & Sculptural Photo/Digital

I understand that any entries not conforming to specified guidelines will be eliminated from consideration. I also accept that the entry fee will not be refunded.

If selected as a Small Works 2022 artist, I agree that my work(s) will be available throughout the exhibition during the specified dates of the Small Works 2022 Exhibit.

Should I be a 2022 Small Works participant, I grant permission to Georgetown Art Works to display images of my work with a website link (if applicable) on the Georgetown Art Center website.

I understand that I retain full rights to my art and images. Georgetown Art Works will not use my art and images for promotional work outside of Small Works without expressed written consent.

Should an artwork sell during the 2022 Small Works, I agree that Georgetown Art Works will receive a 30% commission. I will receive the remaining 70%. Sales tax is collected and paid by GAW.

Important: Artwork that is not picked up by the designated pickup time, or work shipped without a prepaid return label, will be considered abandoned and is subject to donation, sale, or disposal at GAW's sole discretion.

Liability statement: I understand that reasonable care will be given to my work(s) during handling, hanging, exhibiting, and transporting. I will not hold Georgetown Art Works responsible for loss or damage to my art. All artists are encouraged to secure independent insurance for their work.
