Accepted Media:
Painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, collage.

Specifications:
Artists 18 years and older living in the United States are invited to submit up to three works of original fine art for juror consideration.
All 2-dimensional artwork will be considered.
Work must be for sale.
Work must be original artwork (no reproduction prints, example: a giclee of a watercolor)
Work must be submitted by the artist.
Work must not have been previously exhibited at Gallery 40.
Work must be professionally presented: wired and ready to hang. Hangers such as velcro or sawtooth hangers may disqualify work from being included. The gallery reserves the right to reject works that are not ready to hang or differ from the digital representation submitted.
When shipped/delivered to the exhibition, the artwork must be finished, dry and ready for hanging or display. Canvases must be framed or museum/gallery wrapped with finished edges. Works on paper and smearable mediums, such as charcoal and pastels, must be protected under glass or plexiglass.

Size: The maximum (framed) width is 36 inches, maximum height is 48 inches.
Work must be 2-dimensional wall art - We are not accepting 3-d work for this show.
All works must be clearly labeled with the artist name somewhere on the piece. Orientation of artwork should be indicated if not obvious.

Exhibition Terms: Work must remain in Gallery 40 for the duration of the exhibit. All works in the exhibit must be for sale. Gallery 40 will retain a 35% commission on all sales. Retail sale price is determined by the artist.

Submission Fee: A non refundable $35.00 entry fee for up to 3 entries total will be collected at time of submission by entrythingy.com. Multiple entries from the same artist must be submitted at the same time to take advantage of the Entrythingy fee.

Juror of Selection: Carl Grauer
Carl Grauer grew up in Wilson, Kansas, a town of 800 people. He likes to say he was raised between the “N” and the “S” of Kansas because it was in the absolute middle of the state. After childhood, he completed a degree in human biology and an MFA in medical illustration from the University of Kansas and Michigan, respectively.
Eventually finding their way to Brooklyn, New York, he worked in advertising for many years and co-owned a small business offering second-hand goods, antiques, collectibles, and fine art all the while wishing for the courage to make art more seriously. Upon the sudden death of his brother in 2012, they committed a life to an authentic pursuit of making art.
Now a practicing artist based in Poughkeepsie, NY in the beautiful Hudson Valley, he primarily works in oil, painting from observation, intuition, and surrealism. Having been originally trained as a medical illustrator, their training was extended continuing education in various representational drawing and painting studios and other practicing artists.
He shows work locally, nationally, and internationally, including exhibiting with the Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson, NY, and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in London.
With over 10 years of experience with the art of portraiture, He has worked on many portrait commissions. There are many ways in which to engage through a commission with Grauer. Whether it is a traditional commission over several sittings, a posthumous portrait of a passed loved one, he also paints inspired portraits within two hours. In this series, he invites anyone to sit. It is a focus on intuitive strokes laid with purpose and with energy that connects to the spirit of the sitter. It is a healing process because of this element of time and connection to energy.
