Gallery 40 is looking for artists to explore the mysterious beauty of the night through a palette where green and blue take center stage.
Midnight & Moss celebrates the meeting of deep midnight blues and lush, organic greens—the stillness of a forest after dark, moonlight filtering through leaves, reflections on dark water, and the quiet energy of hidden places. Gallery 40 is seeking artwork that evokes atmosphere, mystery, nature, dream states, and the emotional depth found between darkness and growth.
Green and blue should be predominant elements of the work.
Artists are encouraged to explore shades ranging from:
-- Deep navy, indigo, and midnight blue
-- Forest, moss, emerald, and sage green
-- Teal, turquoise, and blue-green
-- Muted, luminous, or highly saturated variations of these hues
Additional colors may be incorporated, but the overall visual language should remain anchored in blue and green.
Painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, textiles, and other contemporary practices are encouraged, but limited to 2-dimensional artwork for this Open Call. No nude will be accepted for this exhibition.
Whether your work is quiet and meditative or dramatic and otherworldly, Gallery 40 is looking to see your interpretation of Midnight & Moss.
Let the darkness deepen. Let the green grow. Let the blue glow.

Artwork should be submitted digitally via entrythingy.com with all required and pertinent information included.
Acceptance Notification: November 13, via email

Accepted Media:
Painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, collage.

Specifications:
Artists 18 years and older living in the United States are invited to submit up to three works of original fine art for juror consideration.
All 2-dimensional artwork will be considered. No nude.
Work must be for sale.
Work must be original artwork (no reproduction prints, example: a giclee of a watercolor)
Work must be submitted by the artist.
Work must not have been previously exhibited at Gallery 40.
Work must be professionally presented: wired and ready to hang. Hangers such as velcro or sawtooth hangers may disqualify work from being included. The gallery reserves the right to reject works that are not ready to hang or differ from the digital representation submitted.
When shipped/delivered to the exhibition, the artwork must be finished, dry and ready for hanging or display. Canvases must be framed or museum/gallery wrapped with finished edges. Works on paper and smearable mediums, such as charcoal and pastels, must be protected under glass or plexiglass.

Size: The maximum (framed) width is 36 inches, maximum height is 48 inches.
Work must be 2-dimensional wall art - We are not accepting 3-d work for this show.
All works must be clearly labeled with the artist name somewhere on the piece. Orientation of artwork should be indicated if not obvious.

Exhibition Terms: Work must remain in Gallery 40 for the duration of the exhibit. All works in the exhibit must be for sale. Gallery 40 will retain a 40% commission on all sales. Retail sale price is determined by the artist.

Submission Fee: A non refundable $35.00 entry fee for up to 3 entries total will be collected at time of submission by entrythingy.com. Multiple entries from the same artist must be submitted at the same time to take advantage of the Entrythingy fee.

Juror of Selection: Nansi Lent
Nansi T. Lent is a painter from Rhinebeck, NY, who was born in New York and grew up
in Coconut Grove, Florida. She holds a BA from Boston College in Studio Art and a
Masters in Visual Arts Administration from NYU. Painting for decades, she has exhibited
widely in New York?s Hudson Valley region and beyond including The Katonah Museum of Art, The Woodstock Artists Association and Museum, The Coral Springs Art Museum in Florida, Goggleworks in Reading, PA, The New York Public Library, The Starr Library in Rhinebeck and in numerous co-ops and private galleries. She has received multiple awards and commendations. Her work is held in several private collections. Nansi has served on the board of The National Association of Women Artists and in 2018 founded Womenswork.art, a gallery in Poughkeepsie, NY. She is an Active Member of the Woodstock Artists Association and Museum.
