Freedom — Past, Present, and Future
Artists are invited to explore the meaning of freedom through visual storytelling. Works may reflect:
•Stories of freedom and resilience
• Historical narratives and untold voices
• Cultural heritage and identity
• Landscapes that symbolize liberty
• Personal reflections on freedom today
• Visions of freedom in the future
Media Accepted
All visual art media including:
• Painting
• Drawing
• Mixed Media
• Photography
• Printmaking
• Sculpture
Work must be original and created within the last 3 years.
All entries must be for sale.
Number of Works to Submit
Artists should submit 2 works for consideration.
Artists may include 1 additional piece if it strongly reflects the Land of Liberty theme.
Storytelling Requirement
One selected artwork must include a 100–250 word story or short essay describing the inspiration behind the work.
This narrative may include:
• historical context
• personal story
• cultural narrative
• interpretation of freedom
Stories will be displayed alongside artwork during the exhibition.
Plein Air Option
Artists may participate in an optional Plein Air Paint Out on Thursday the 25th.
Artists are invited to paint throughout historic Beaufort, capturing the landscapes and architecture of the Lowcountry.

Participation Fee
$75 participation fee if accepted
(This helps cover exhibition costs, marketing, and reception.)
Commission
Artwork will be available for sale during the festival.
Sales split:
70% Artist
30% Freedman Arts District
Installation
Artists will install their own work during a scheduled installation window.
Work must be:
• ready to hang
• professionally presented
• wired (no sawtooth hangers)
