October brings with it crispness, long nights and a certain mood. Whether it’s the anticipation of halloween or the coming of winter October holds a sense of magic the veil between worlds thin and accessible.
Mysticism as defined by wikipedia is the practice of religious ecstasies, together with whatever ideologies, ethics, rites, myths, legends, and magic may be related to them. It may also refer to the attainment of insight in ultimate or hidden truths, and to human transformation supported by various practices and experiences.
Magic is defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural source, giving the feeling of enchantment.
October embodies all of these traits from celebrating as a community the myths surrounding Halloween, Dios De Los Muertos, and other October traditions/holidays to that feeling of enchantment that seems to soak through every day of this month. For this years October exhibit we are focusing on the ideas of Mysticism and Magic and work that explores these concepts.
This Exhibit will be displayed for a month and will be hung in the Extension of our Gallery in Dimension by Paragon a Community Events Space. The opening will be in conjunction with the opening for Jessica Schuyt a solo artist who is exhibiting her work in the Paragon Gallery Space.
'The Gallery @ Paragon' is an upscale, contemporary gallery that offers a space for creative exchange and exhibition that connects the community with contemporary, relevant art and the artists behind the work.
