JUROR: Nanette Newbry

THEME: This year, the Museum of Encaustic Art is offering accepted artists the option to showcase their artwork online instead of shipping it to the museum. In this case, a jpeg of the juried work and the artist's information will be displayed in the museum instead of the actual artwork. However, artists who prefer to ship their work can do so and have it exhibited in the museum for the exhibit's six-week run, while also being displayed online like in previous exhibitions. We have received feedback from many artists that the shipping cost and the need to provide a return shipping receipt have deterred them from submitting their work. We hope this option provides greater flexibility and encourages more artists to participate.

This exhibition offers an opportunity for artists to explore the versatility of wax as a medium and to showcase whatever they are currently working on in their studios. We welcome wax-based art of any type, including encaustic, cold wax, mixed media and 3D works, and we hope that this exhibition will inspire artists to create unique and stunning pieces that will captivate the imagination of our visitors.

The juror, Nanette Newbry, will make selections based on the quality of the submitted artwork, and her determination of work that will make the best exhibition showcasing the versatility of wax-based artwork.
