THEME: JOY
Joy is a short word that packs a lot of punch. Joy & happiness are somewhat similar, but are actually two different emotions. Joy is attributed to something consistent and internal, while happiness tends to be triggered by something external.

While both emotions are uplifting, we have chosen this simple word to inspire work that springs from an internal nudge to create from a place beyond all of life's upheavals & distractions.

Artist statements will accompany your work and lend a deeper awareness of your journey.

Any artwork created using wax-based media in 2-D or 3-D form is acceptable to submit for consideration by the juror. Wax-based media includes: all forms of encaustic, hot or cold wax, and encaustic mixed media (with any combination of media). There are no parameters to your expression, only that your artwork be current, be made from wax-based media, and relates to the theme of the exhibit. Entrants may submit two pieces of artwork for review by the juror, however, only one (1) piece per artist may be selected for the exhibition.

ALL WORK MUST BE FOR SALE.

Entry fees:
$30

Application dates: Feb 4 - April 9, 2023.

JUROR: GEORGINA LOVE
An early love of art and a desire to learn to paint inspired Georgina to find an instructor who had classical atelier training. Using and constantly refining the skills learned, Georgina has painted all sorts of subject matter for nearly 30 years. Whether copying old Masters or using those techniques for whimsical paintings, or animal portraits, the goal is to make whatever she paints come alive. Then, when trompe l'oeil caught her attention, the next goal was learning to create paintings to trick the eye. Georgina enjoys the constant challenges of creating artwork, and having fun while using old world methods.

Georgina's work has been shown and juried in regional and national exhibitions and collected both in the Unites States and overseas. For over 10 years, Georgina has also taught art, sharing the methods she has learned over the years.

In addition to continuing to paint, Georgina is responsible for curating artwork for the A.E. Backus Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida. Throughout her 9-year affiliation with the Museum, she has and continues to be responsible for exhibiting the Museums permanent collection, which includes installing everything that is shown in the five rotating exhibits. Also included, are open juried art exhibitions, a photography exhibition and special exhibitions which create their own creative challenges. Understanding how to show the work of others in the best possible way gives her another perspective when it comes to looking at art.

A creative interpretation of your thoughts and feelings on this subject as expressed through art will be the heart of this exhibition. There are no parameters to your expression, only that your artwork be current and relate to the theme of JOY. The juror, Georgina Love, will make selections based on the interpretation of the JOY theme as well as the quality of the submitted artwork.
