Global Warming Is REAL National Juried Encaustic/Wax Exhibition (2022)

ENTRY PERIOD: Application dates from May 28 - July 31, 2022.

NOTIFICATION of juror results: Aug 20

EXHIBITION DATES: Sept 17 - Oct 16

OPENING RECEPTION: Sept 17 (noon - 3 pm)

FEES: Entrance fee is $25 for current Encaustic Art Institute Members, $35 for non-members.

Commission fee: EAI takes a 50% commission fee on sold artwork.

Accepted artists who are based outside of the USA have the option to ship their work to be shown in the in-person exhibition held in the Museum of Encaustic Art - OR - may choose to have their work shown only in the online version of the exhibition, visible on the EAI/MoEA websites. All US-based artists will ship work for the in-person exhibition, and will also be featured in the online exhibit.

WHO MAY ENTER: This is an in-person AND online National Exhibition, open to all encaustic/wax artists whether they are a member of the Encaustic Art Institute or not. However, any artist who is a member of the Encaustic Art Institute and resides outside of the US is eligible to enter.

WHAT TO ENTER: Any artwork created using wax-based media in 2-D or 3-D form is acceptable to submit for consideration by the juror. Wax-based media includes: all forms of encaustic, hot or cold wax, and encaustic mixed media (with any combination of media). There are no parameters to your expression, only that your artwork be current, be made from wax-based media, and relates to the theme of the exhibit.
Entrants may enter one (1) to three (3) images of different artwork per entry for review, however, only one (1) piece per artist may be selected for the exhibition. (See image requirements section for details on what size/format we require).

Entrants are also required to include a statement (50 - 250 words) to describe how their piece(s) relate to the theme of the exhibit. NOTE: There is a character limit for statements in EntryThingy. If your statement is longer than what is allowed on EntryThingy, write 'statement sent separately' then you will send the statement to EAI following the instructions on the Call for Art on the EAI website https://www.eainm.com/call-for-art-global-warming-is-real/.

SIZE LIMITATIONS on accepted work: For 2-D artwork: 24 x 24 inches equivalent (or under). For 3-D artwork: 20 x 20 inches equivalent (or under)


IMAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Entrants may submit from one - three images for review by the juror, however, only one (1) piece per artist may be selected for the exhibition. Diptychs and triptychs count as one piece - submit a single image of diptych or triptych. Do NOT include detail (close-up) views of your artwork - only include full views of your work, shot head-on. EVEN if you are only submitting one artwork for review - you may only include the one full-view. One image for each entered artwork you submit.

Format for images:
* Background: For 3-D pieces: white/black/or neutral background. For 2-D pieces, the image should be cropped tight to the edges of the piece with no background showing.
* File Format: Save all images as BASELINE standard JPEG (.jpg).
* File size: JPEGs must be under 10.0 MB saved at 150 dpi minimum - 300 dpi maximum. Do not submit images shot at 72 dpi.
*Image size at shortest image dimension: 1500 px
*Color space: Save images in an RGB color space, preferably sRGB.


HOW THE WORK WILL BE SELECTED: The juror, Janet Bloch, will make selections based on the interpretation of the Global Warming is Real theme as well as the quality of the submitted artwork.


IMPORTANT NOTE: All work in this exhibition MUST BE FOR SALE and REMAIN eligible for sale from the time the entry is submitted until the close of the exhibition.

GENERAL INFORMATION: PLEASE CAREFULLY READ and FOLLOW all entry requirements BEFORE submitting your entry. We suggest you read through the Call for Art on the EAI website to be sure you understand all instructions. We also strongly suggest that you do NOT wait until the last day to submit your entry. You should allow yourself enough time to familiarize yourself with the EntryThingy system before the deadline so you don't run into problems close to the deadline. Please give us (and yourself) at least a one day cushion in case you need to correct something, or we need to contact you to clarify something in your entry. Also, although entries close at midnight, support/assistance will only be available until 5 pm MDT on July 31.

Make sure that your name, title, caption information for each image, dimensions, and price are all correct. Whatever information you use on your entry will be what we use to create your label on the website, publicize and sell your piece (should your entry be accepted by the juror) - be sure the information in the entry is correct and final.

If you use a different name as your 'artist' name - enter your name as you wish it to appear on any publicity material, our website, your gallery label, etc. when you submit your entry.

If you have a different email address/name connected with the PayPal account that you use to pay your entry fee, contact us right away ([email protected]) with the information so we can credit your entry fee with your entry.

Be sure that the email address you use on your entry/profile is one that you currently use and check regularly. This is the email address we use to contact you and send the juror result notification.
