APPLICATION PERIOD: May 18 - July 29, 2024
EXHIBITION DATES: Sept 14 - Oct 20, 2024
JUROR: Angela Hansen
Entrants may submit TWO images for review by the juror, however, only one (1) piece per artist may be selected for the exhibition.
ALL WORK MUST BE FOR SALE, and remain eligible for sale from the time the work is submitted to the juror, and if selected by the juror, until the close of the exhibition.
ENTRY FEE: For current Encaustic Art Institute members: $30
For non-members:$35.
COMMISSION FEE: 50% to the artist/50% to Encaustic Art Institute.
THEME: Global Warming is REAL. As scientific reports and photos warn of the changes in our earth's atmosphere, we become sensitized to how global warming impacts us now and in the future. Climate change is becoming more visible and tangible.
Within the global warming theme, several subset topics would be acceptable for applicants to consider for inspiration for their entries, such as warming temperatures, extreme weather, warming ocean temperatures, rising sea levels, glacial shrinking, melting ice sheets, species endangerment, habitat reduction, losses of coral reefs, climate migrants, food insufficiency or famine due to climate change - any issue related to climate change could be covered under the theme.
Applicants are required to submit a brief statement describing how their work fits the theme (Details are in the entry instructions).
The juror, Angela Hansen, will make her selections based on the quality of the submitted artwork, how well the work reflects the theme, and her determination of work that will make the best exhibition showcasing the versatility of wax-based artwork.
Accepted artists will have the option to exhibit their artwork online only or ship it to the museum for the exhibit's run while also being displayed online. These options may offer greater flexibility and encourage artists worldwide to participate in an exhibition on this important topic.
