JUROR: Meighen Jackson
Meighen Jackson is a Dayton-raised, Detroit-formed woman of the late 1960's--of Vietnam War protests, mind-expanding trips, and a self-imposed mandate to change the world. Meighen is in love with line. Line is the heart of her work. Meighen states, If line is the heart, then color gives it soul. My color comes from paper, not paint. I bury my lines in layers of colored papers, then razor some back to the surface, leaving the others in pools of color that define the space between. It's a crazy process, but one that preserves the emotion and integrity of my original lines and impressions of our world.
Education: Master of Fine Arts, University of Cincinnati, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Magna Cum Laude, Michigan State University, Bachelor of Science(Education) Magna Cum Laude, Michigan State University
Meighen has been selected for numerous Public Collections, Solo Exhibitions, Selected Group Exhibitions, and International and National Art Fairs.
Meighen Jackson is represented nationally by Walter Wickiser Gallery, Manhattan, NY, and regionally by M Contemporary Gallery, Ferndale, MI.
