50th Annual Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival Art Exhibit

By submitting your entry, you agree to the following terms:

Digital Images. The Festival juries entries based on the digital image and information submitted. Artists should ensure that images of artwork are of good quality and are representative of the original. Artists' images submitted may be used by the festival in show promotion and printed materials. The artists retain rights to their work. Images submitted must have a minimum 1000 pixels on the shortest side.

2D Size Requirements. 2D submissions must be no smaller than 6 inches in either dimension measured from the outside edges of the frame. Measurements must include the frame (if framed). Pieces wider than 5 feet are unlikely to be accepted.

3D Size Requirements. 3D artwork must be 21 inches or less on its longest side. Pieces must be held in place with a stand (provided by the artist) or museum gel.

Weight. Pieces of significant weight should be labeled in the entry as a part of the piece description.

Origin and Subject. Only original works will be accepted. Entries must not be copies, derivatives or based on the copyrighted work of another artist. The Festival reserves the right to refuse any entry that does not meet the rules of entry or that may be offensive to patrons of the venue as determined by the Festival.

Condition. Artworks must be ready to hang by the drop off date. If special equipment is required to showcase the art it must be provided by the artist. All artwork must be properly finished. All artwork must be properly wired for hanging. Saw tooth hangers, brackets, or exposed glass edges will not be accepted. Unframed gallery-wrapped canvas must have the sides finished. No wet artworks will be accepted. The viewing surfaces and the frame must be clean and unmarred.

Pricing. The price of all works for sale must be included in the application. The Festival will retain a 25% commission from all works sold and Seattle Center will retain 10% commission and 65% remaining for the artist. Artists should price their work accordingly. Artists are also welcome to donate their portion to the festival non-profit. The suggested minimum price for artwork is $100. For artworks sold, the artist will receive their portion no later than Tuesday, April 22nd with the payment information provided in the entry.

Labeling. All artwork will have a label attached with the artist's name, title of the artwork, and labeled as for sale or display only accordingly. No price will be shown next to the art, exhibit staff will have a list of prices.

Immutability. Artists may not substitute or alter the work, title, or price once registration is complete.

Delivery and Pick-up Terms Overview
Artists will be notified by 3/14/2025 which, if any, of their works have been accepted into the show.
Accepted work must be delivered on updated Thursday April 10 3-7:30pm (was Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the time) and the Seattle Center location provided in the acceptance notification.
Artworks must be picked up on Sunday, April 13 5-7pm (was Monday, April 14, 2025 at the time) and the Seattle Center location provided in the acceptance notification.
If the artwork is not picked up on Sunday April 13 (was Monday, April 14, 2025), and the festival is not contacted and other arrangements agreed upon, the artwork is considered abandoned and will become the property of the festival.

LIABILITY:
The Festival suggests that artists carry their own insurance on their artwork. While the Festival members take precautions to avoid loss or damage, all artists who enter this show agree to hold the Festival, its organizers and attendees harmless for any loss or damage incurred.
By submitting an entry to the Festival art show, the artist agrees to accept these Terms.
