Calling Vendors for Artisans Market at the Danbury Juneteenth Celebration 2024.

The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut and the Danbury Juneteenth Coalition invite creative vendors in CT and NY to participate. Our goal is to produce an artisanal experience for the community, provide exhibitors the opportunity to show their work to its best advantage; support the purchase of original fine art and hand-made goods; and fosters art and cultural appreciation. The theme for 2024 Juneteenth is Emancipation Jubilation.

Artists and Artisans will support the event through their creativity to celebrate freedom and bring people together. The Artisans Market will display beauty, distinctness, and discovery of one-self through art. Our Danbury Juneteenth Emancipation Jubilation event will be on June 15th from 12pm to 5pm. It will take place at Western Connecticut State University, midtown campus at 181 White Street, Danbury, CT 06810 on the Higgins Hall Lawn. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors. Online applications only. Deadline to apply is May 17, 2024.

ABOUT JUNETEENTH
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Dating back to 1865, it was on June 19th that the Union soldiers, led by Major General Gordon Granger, landed at Galveston, Texas with news that the war had ended and that the enslaved were now free. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln?s Emancipation Proclamation ? which had become official January 1, 1863.

Today, it is a holiday that highlights the extraordinary contributions made by African Americans to the community, and also celebrates unity and hope for communities across the nation.
