About the Bernini Awards

Honoring Excellence in Sacred Architecture & the Allied Arts

The Catholic Art Institute is proud to inaugurate the Bernini Awards, an annual program recognizing excellence in sacred architecture and the allied arts. Established to honor projects that enrich the worship of God, the awards celebrate beauty, craftsmanship, theological integrity, and fidelity to the Church's artistic tradition while encouraging the continued renewal of Catholic culture through the sacred arts.

Awards are presented in the areas of ecclesiastical architecture, restoration, sacred art, artisanship and craftsmanship, interior design, landscape design, churches and ecclesiastical buildings, student work, patronage, and stewardship.

The Bernini Awards are presented annually during the Catholic Art Institute's Annual Conference. The inaugural Bernini Awards will be presented on September 19, 2026, during the Conference, held September 18–19, 2026, at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
