Prospectus: The Carriage Barn Arts Center 2026/27 season begins with the Annual Member Show, celebrating the range, interests, and talents of artist members working across all subjects, styles, and media. Open to all mediums, current members of the Carriage Barn may submit up to three pieces, one will be selected for the exhibition. Artists can join or renew their membership at CARRIAGEBARN.ORG/RENEW/ (membership must be current through the end of the exhibition). All works may be for sale and a 35% transaction fee benefits the Carriage Barn.

SPECIFICATIONS: 2D work must be delivered to the gallery ready-to-hang and no larger than 24 x 36 inches (or 30" x 30") including frame. We use the Walker Hanging System, work should be appropriately wired or cleated with adequate support. Sculpture and installations may also be submitted for display in the gallery or outside in the courtyard. Work must remain on exhibit for the entire show. Saw tooth hangers and small wire loops on the back of inexpensive frames, scratched glass and Plexiglas, poorly constructed frames, and poorly cut mats will not be accepted. Submissions received without payment will not be considered.

This Agreement, between The New Canaan Society for the Arts (NCSA) and the Exhibitor named above, sets forth the terms and conditions of presentation and potential sale of the Exhibitor’s artwork at the referenced show/event.

1. Sales. NCSA supports exhibitors who are seeking to sell their artwork by putting prospective buyers in touch with member artists. NCSA encourages exhibitors to submit artwork that is for sale, and exhibitors may submit artwork for presentation and potential sale at the show/event referenced above. The determination of value and other terms of sale remain a matter between the Exhibitor and the prospective buyer throughout the sales process.

2. Liability and Release. NCSA will take all reasonable precautions to care for artwork that is exhibited during any NCSA show/event. However, NCSA assumes no responsibility for any damage to artwork during delivery, installation, display or de-installation including, by way of example only, normal wear and tear, minor nicks or scratches, etc. NCSA will not be responsible for work not picked up after specified pick-up dates. By entering into this Agreement, Exhibitor hereby releases NCSA, its officers, directors, employees, and agents, from any and all liability for loss, damage or theft of any artwork, subject only to the insurance provision below.

3. Insurance. NCSA maintains general liability insurance in connection with its operations. In the event of any loss, damage or theft of any artwork, NCSA may submit such loss, damage or theft to its insurer and its insurer will determine whether to pay any claim related to such loss, damage or theft, which shall not exceed 50% of the fair market value of the artwork (it being understood that the Exhibitor’s requested price shall not be determinative of the fair market value). Other than such insurance, and unless the Exhibitor and NCSA enter into a separate written agreement with respect to certain artwork, NCSA shall bear no further responsibility beyond the limits of its insurance coverage (subject to deductibles and/or self-insured retentions).

4. Transaction Fee. For any artwork sold as a result of being exhibited at the show/event listed above, NCSA shall be entitled to a transaction fee equal to 35% of the sales price. In addition, NCSA will collect from each buyer the applicable sales taxes for any transaction.

5. Image Usage Rights. NCSA promotes the recognition of any artist who exhibits artwork at NCSA show/events. By submitting artwork for jurying, artists whose submissions are chose for exhibition give NCSA the right to use their images, and images of their artwork, for all purposes, including promotion of the artist, promotion of the show/event, promotion of the NCSA’s programs, and similar uses. Such right includes printed images, as well as images on the NCSA’s website, social networks and other public media. NCSA will make every effort to include artist credit with such uses.
