Debut

The following are the exhibition rules for Debut sponsored by the Southern Tier Center for Emerging Artists (STCEA). Please read and be sure you understand the terms of entry before submitting your work. If you have questions, reach out to us at [email protected]. We’re happy to help!
Entries:
All entries are accepted via Entry Thingy (www.entrythingy.com). Entries cannot be watermarked due to the blind jury process and must follow the exhibition theme. Entries are evaluated and selected based on creativity, quality, adherence to theme, and exhibit space.
Any type of 2-D or 3-D visual art is eligible for submission including photography, painting, fiber/textile, glass, collage and mixed media, drawing, sculpture, digital art, printmaking, woodworking, ceramic, or pottery. Email if you are unsure about whether your medium of work is accepted.
All entries require a brief statement specific to the exhibit entry. Feel free to talk about what inspired the work and what type of debut the work represents (first art exhibit, first virtual exhibit, first work in a new medium, etc.). You can also include a short bio and a link to your artist website. Statements are limited to 530 characters.
Entry Fees and Eligibility:
The entry fee is $25 USD for the first submission or $35 USD for up to three submissions and is payable at the time of entry. Entries fees are not refundable.
The exhibition is open to all North American artists 18 years of age and older. The maximum number of entries per artists is three (3). Files must be in JPG or PNG format and may not exceed 1 MB.
All artists will be notified by email regarding the status of their submitted entrance.
Print copies of the exhibition catalog will be available for an additional fee.
Awards:
Prizes will be awarded to Best in Show ($125 USD), 1st Place ($100 USD), 2nd Place ($75 USD), and 3rd Place ($50 USD). A People’s Choice award of $100 USD will be announced at the conclusion of the exhibit based on attendee voting.
Honorable mentions will be awarded at the discretion of the show’s juror.
Prize winners and honorable mentions will receive a free entry to a future show.
Juror/Curator:
The curator for Debut is Amy Hollan, STCEA’s Creative Director. Amy is an award-winning emerging artist who has exhibited nationally and whose works are held in private collections throughout the United States.

Sale of Work:
STCEA does not sell exhibited works of art. Purchase inquiries will be directed to the participating artists for follow up.
Email Opt-In:
Submitting artists agree and understand that they will be added to STCEA’s email list and will receive future email announcements and email notices from us. If you want to unsubscribe, please contact us at [email protected] and we will remove you immediately from our email subscriber list.
Publicity and Use Rights:
STCEA promotes its exhibitions and accepted artists. Upon acceptance, you give STCEA permission to publish and promote submitted images of your work and quotations from your entry description and artist bio via email, website, social media, press releases, collateral and digital marketing materials, and online events to the public.
Additionally, accepted artists give STCEA the right to produce and sell at a nominal fee a print catalog of the exhibition images and descriptions. STCEA will credit each artist with their name, the title of the work, and the full or excerpted artwork description.
Copyrights:
Submitting artists attest that all entries are their own, original works and bear full responsibility for compliance with all copyright laws.
Any copyright infringement by a submitting artist as reported to STCEA will result in immediate disqualification and removal of images and/or text from the exhibition and all official STCEA accounts.
No images may be copied or downloaded from the exhibition website or official STCEA website and social media accounts.
