Juried Outdoor Public Sculpture Exhibition, $1500

Criteria and Specifications for Selection:

- Open to US citizens and legal residents as well as students who are 18 years of age or older in the United States.

- All entries must be the original artwork of the submitting artist. Entries may be of existing artworks or concept proposals. An artist may submit up to three (3) artworks.

- Artworks will be selected based on quality, artistic merit, design, craftsmanship, creative use of materials, scale, durability and safety for community display.

- Because the artworks may be installed and exhibited in high pedestrian traffic areas adjacent to the roadway, the safety of the public, including children, must be taken into consideration.

- Within reason all submitted artworks must be as vandal-proof as possible, must not have accessible sharp edges or otherwise be capable of being damaged or causing harm, and must be designed for secure installation in public spaces and be able to withstand the demands of Kansas weather.

- Unless otherwise determined by City Staff, selected artworks must be capable of, and ready to be, mounted to a sidewalk, plaza or similar surface at the designated sites. If an artist requires a pedestal, the City of Manhattan can provide a limestone pedestal of up to a 4 ft. X 4 ft. dimension with a maximum mounting height of 12 in. Artists should provide detailed instructions for installation of the selected artworks.

Terms and Conditions:

- All materials submitted will be subject to the laws and regulations pertaining to public information. No guarantee of privacy or confidentiality is offered or implied by the City.

- Proposals may not be modified after submission. However artists may withdraw from the selection process at any time prior to selection.

- The City reserves the right to eliminate any entrant that submits an incomplete or inadequate response, or is not responsive to the Call for Art requirements.

- The City reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive any defect, technicality, and any other minor informality or irregularity therein.

- The City reserves the right, for any reason whatsoever, to terminate this selection process or decide not to make any selection, by providing written notice to the artists.

- All persons awarded and or entering into contracts with the City of Manhattan will be subject to and are required to comply with all applicable City, State and Federal provisions pertaining to nondiscrimination, equal employment opportunity and affirmative action on public contracts.
