Confluence Art Gallery invites submissions for its Confluence of Expression: Great Rivers Photography Exhibition, to be exhibited at the National Great Rivers Museum in Alton, Illinois and the Audubon Center at the Riverlands in West Alton, Missouri. The exhibition will also be exhibited online on the Confluence Art Gallery Website.

The Great Rivers Photography Exhibition will bring together a collection of outstanding contemporary photographs interpreting, documenting, and celebrating the Mississippi River, its tributaries and other Great Rivers of the United States. Photographs submitted for the juried exhibit may be taken anywhere along America’s Great Rivers. Submission guidelines encourage wide-ranging subject matter, including, but not limited to, sights and scenes depicting life along the rivers, recreation, commerce, riverscapes, wildlife, weather conditions, nature and natural phenomena. Our goal is to assemble a large body of photography that is as rich and diverse as America’s Great Rivers. Photographers are encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of the Great Rivers of the United States.

DATES AND DEADLINES:

Call for Photographers Announced: August 1, 2017
Deadline for Entries: October 31, 2017
Photographer Notification: November 17, 2017
Opening of Exhibition at the National Great Rivers Museum, the Audubon Center at Riverlands and the Confluence of Expression Online Exhibition will be December 18, 2017.

EXHIBITION DATES:

The exhibition at the National Great Rivers Museum and the Riverlands Audubon Center will hang from December 18, 2017 through February 28th, 2018. A portion of the exhibition images may be used as part of a traveling exhibit the remainder of 2018.

AWARDS & PRIZES:

Cash awards will be given to the Grand Prize winner as well as First and Second Place winners.

Grand Prize, $300 plus one year representation on Confluence Art Gallery website.
First Place, $200 plus one year representation on Confluence Art Gallery website
Second Place, $50
Ribbons for 8 to 10 Honorable Mentions
Commander Awards from the six districts of the Corps of Engineers on the Mississippi River. Other awards and prizes to be announced.

The Best in Show winner and 1st place winner will be the 'Featured Artists' on the Confluence Art Gallery website for one year and will have the opportunity to display, promote and sell a collection of their photography through Confluence Art Gallery.

All accepted artworks will be on display online for the duration of the exhibition. The photographers may choose to sell their accepted work through Confluence Art Gallery. Upon submission, artists may choose to price their artwork for sale or mark it Not For Sale (NFS).

Upon acceptance, photographers will provide framed and matted prints of their accepted entries for exhibition at the National Great Rivers Museum. Please send a print no smaller than 11x14 but no larger than 20x24 inches matted in a white or off white mat and framed in a simple black frame. If shipping, plexiglass is highly recommended. Please ship in a reusable box with a postage prepaid return shipping label. Details can be found on the entry form when you enter. All accepted entries must also be submitted electronically. A high-resolution image is required for inclusion on the online gallery. Please submit the image at 300dpi no larger than 5mb in JPG format. All accepted artist will receive additional information on delivery of prints and digital files on November 17th, 2017.

A catalog of the show will be available to order between November 17, 2017 and December 3rd, 2017. Only catalogs ordered and paid for by December 3rd will be ordered. Price for the catalog $35 plus shipping.

All winners and accepted artists will receive extensive online publicity and promotion.

ENTRY FEES:

A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for first two photographs. Additional images may be submitted for a non-refundable fee of $15 each.
A maximum of 5 images will be accepted per photographer.
