Every stitch marks a moment. Every thread tells a story.
Fiber arts have long connected us across generations, cultures, and communities. A quilt may preserve family history. A woven basket may carry ancestral knowledge. A crocheted blanket, built one loop at a time, becomes a record of patience, care, and connection, each stitch linked to the next, creating a whole that is stronger because of its interdependence.
A Stitch in Time: Threads of Connection invites artists to explore the visible and invisible threads that connect us to one another, to our histories, and to the world around us. We seek fiber-based works that examine memory, tradition, resilience, identity, and the relationships that bridge past, present, and future.
How do we carry the stories of those who came before us? What traditions have been handed down, transformed, or reclaimed? What people, places, and experiences are woven into the fabric of our lives? How do the connections we nurture today become part of the story tomorrow?
Artists are encouraged to consider themes such as:
● Memory and remembrance
● Family histories and inherited traditions
● Cultural storytelling
● Mending, healing, and resilience
● Connections across generations
● Community and belonging
● The passage of time
● Contemporary interpretations of traditional fiber practices
● The threads that link people, places, and experiences
All fiber and textile-based media are welcome, including quilting, weaving, crochet, knitting, embroidery, basketry, felting, soft sculpture, mixed-media textiles, other sewn materials, and experimental fiber processes.
Join us in exploring the stories held within every stitch and the enduring threads that connect us across time.
