PSBI 2027 PHS Flower Show Exhibit

Botanical Icons: Portraits of Place invites artists to explore the powerful relationship between flora / fungi and the iconic places they represent. Throughout history, certain flowers and plants have become visual ambassadors of their homelands—such as cherry blossoms signaling Japan’s spring, proteas standing as emblems of South Africa, lavender fields defining Provence, and lotus blooms echoing the spiritual heart of India. This exhibition seeks artwork that captures these connections, highlighting well known associations or uncovering lesser known botanical narratives tied to geography, heritage, or landscapes. Submissions should reveal through their description, how the plant depicted evokes the spirit, memory, and identity of a specific place - illuminating the story of the plant and the landmark, region, or cultural landscape it symbolizes.
