The Berkeley Arts Council's 14th Annual Eastern West Virginia Juried Exhibit will be displayed in the Berkeley Art Works gallery, 116 North Queen Street in Martinsburg, WV from September 24 - November 15, 2026.
Description: The theme for the exhibit is open. Works in any medium or technique, in 2- or 3-dimensions, abstract, representational or non-representational subject matter are welcome.
Eligibility: The exhibit is open to all artists over the age of 18 residing in any of the 8 counties of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, including Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, Morgan and Pendleton counties.
Entries: Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last 3 years and have not been exhibited previously at the Berkeley Art Works.
Juror: Sonya Evanisko is Professor of Art and Coordinator of the Painting & Drawing program in the Department of Contemporary Art & Theater at Shepherd University. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana. She exhibits regionally and nationally. Her work is inspired by the beauty she finds in her garden and in nature. She is also actively involved in the Shepherdstown community and the work of her painting students brightens the Shepherd University campus and the town of Shepherdstown. Under her guidance, some of the recent projects her students have completed include murals for the Erma Ora Byrd Hall (School of Nursing), Windward Blooms florist, Alma Bea restaurant, and the Bridge Gallery.
Entry Fee: $40 for the first two works. Artists may submit one or two additional works for $10 each, for a maximum of four works.
Awards: Best in Show, Merit Award and Honorable Mention.
Notification of Accepted Work: The juror's selections will be announced by e-mail and posted on the Berkeley Arts Council Web site on or about Monday September 5, 2026. Detailed delivery instructions will be provided when accepted artists are announced.
