DAM members are invited to submit work to be considered for Friends: Furry & Fictional, coming this summer. This themed exhibition celebrates the many ways humans connect with animals—from the comfort of our pets to the wonder of wildlife. Long present in our stories, cultures, and daily lives, animals continue to inspire care, curiosity, and creative expression, reminding us of our shared place in the world. Artists are encouraged to interpret these connections through personal, cultural, or imaginative perspectives, drawing inspiration from real or imagined creatures.
What to know before you submit:
-There is a $10 non-refundable jury fee per entry for the call for entry.
-Up to 3 artworks may be submitted in one entry; do not submit multiple entries.
-Submit using your preferred published artist name.
-An active DAM membership is required to exhibit; you may purchase or renew at checkout when submitting.
-Memberships are for artists living and working in Michigan.
-There is no price cap or size limit, but all work must be ready to display with hanging hardware.
-DAM will be hosting events in partnership with local animal rescue organizations, please note that this may affect the type of artwork that will be considered for the exhibition.

Artists Notified: May 30, 2026
Artwork Drop off: June 27– July 2, 2026
Exhibition: July 17-August 15, 2026
Artwork Pick up: August 18-22, 2026
