PAINTING REQUIREMENTS
1. Submissions: WPW members in good standing (attended 2 meetings in the past year and served on a committee within the past 2 yrs.) are invited to submit a minimum of two (2) & a maximum of three (3) paintings (as digital images) for the jurors to choose from. The digital specifications are below.
2. Entry fee: $45.00
3. Size: Minimum 12x12 inches or 11x14 inches, Maximum framed size: 36x36x2 inches. Oversized pieces (larger than 36x36 inches) may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis and will need to be juried into the show by the juror and confirmed by the gallery that it can be accommodated (this will happen after the jurying process).
4. Presentation:
* Traditional framing may be under glass with off-white matte. Gallery wrapped canvas or cradled board finished on all sides is acceptable. All work must be wired for hanging (no saw tooth hangers). Unique methods of presentation will be considered if cleared with Gallery owner.
* Framed work: Watercolor or pastel or drawings (works on paper) are usually framed under glass (preferably white or off white matte).
* Oil or acrylic works can be framed but are not required to be under glass or matted.
* Unframed Work: May be on gallery wrapped canvas (1.5-2 inches depth) or wooden cradled board (1.5-2 inches depth). Edges on both must be finished or painted. Free-formed floating works which are not framed and not on canvas need to be adhered to a sturdy and solid board, braced or framed on the back and mounted professionally and clean.
5. Originality: The concept, design, and execution of the artwork shall be solely that of the artist. Unauthorized use of any copyrighted images (including published photographs) will not be selected. Artist must submit and show the original rendition of their work. No alterations. No production prints.
6. Mediums: All mediums of painting and drawing, including mono prints, hand pulled prints, collage, and mixed media (low relief-maximum two (2) inches is OK) may be entered.
7. Substitution: Accepted paintings must match the jpeg submitted. No substitutions or alterations are allowed.
8. Age and Exposure: Work must not have been shown in previous juried Women Painters of Washington Shows and should be current.
9. Availability: All work will be available from the moment of submission and 'accepted work' will be available for the duration of the show. No substitutions allowed. All paintings must be original. By submitting work to this juried show and as part of a professional organization, the artist agrees that the work will be available for the exhibit. If accepted work has sold at any point Kirkland Art Center the 40% commission, even if the artist sold the work directly. Additionally, the buyer must agree to allow the piece to hang in the show until its conclusion. Artists may wish to indicate on their website and on social media that works are available for purchase through the gallery.
10. Labeling: Clearly label the back of each painting with: Your Name and Title of Work, the Medium, Dimensions, Price and Contact Info.
11. Packaging: Protect your art with proper packing/ wrapping. Artwork that is framed with glass needs extra protection. Label all packaging material with your name and phone number.
12. Appropriateness: WPW retains the right of discretion to decide if artworks do not meet the requirement of the show standards or contain any inflammatory or offensive material.
EXHIBITION
1. Sales: Artwork must be For Sale. The sales Kirkland Arts Center is 40% of the purchase price. If an artist sells any piece of artwork included in the show to a client who saw the piece in the show, the artist shall remit 40% commission to the Kirkland Arts Center if the sale occurs within 30 days of the sale.
2. Promotion: By submitting your artwork, you are giving WPW and Kirkland Arts Center permission to use your images for promotional purposes, including, but not limited to, press releases, printed promotional items, show catalog, website gallery, online show announcements, social media, etc. All work will be credited where applicable. Artists will still retain all rights to their work. WPW paintings selected will be displayed on gallery walls.
3. Awards: Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places will be determined.
4. Bio Book: If your work is selected for the show, you will be asked to prepare a one-page bio/statement.
5. Delivery and Pick-up: It is requested that we deliver by carpool several paintings at a time. We will arrange this when participants are announced. If you have a van or SUV and can pick up and deliver, please volunteer.

TO ENTER THE SHOW:
Image requirements: Artists are to submit 2-3 images of paintings which relate to the theme of the show. Submissions containing less than 2 images will not be considered.
Prepare high quality, evenly lit photographs of your work. Photos should be cropped so picture frames, extraneous background and random family pets are not visible.
Prepare one jpeg for each painting to the following digital specifications:
Maximum file size: 5mg
Minimum file size: 500kb
2100 pixels minimum on the longest side
Provide details for each artwork:
Title
Medium: medium on substrate (Example: acrylic on canvas)
Year of Work Completion:
Dimensions: Framed/finished size (H x W x D inches)
Price: $000.00 (Note: /KAC gallery charges 40% commission)
AGREEMENT
Regardless of my payment process (online or by check), by submitting images to this show, I verify that I have read the exhibition terms and conditions and agree to abide by them. It is also hereby understood and agreed to by me, the Exhibiting Party, to hold harmless Women Painters of Washington for any loss or damage of my artwork while showing at this venue.
