The REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCE - 2024

ELIGIBILITY: All public, private and home-schooled high school students, grades 9 - 12, in East Baton Rouge Parish are eligible. Each student's home address must be located within East Baton Rouge Parish. Submissions are limited to 20 pieces per instructor. As this is a juried show, entries are not guaranteed acceptance into the show. There are no fees associated with submission. This year, at the request of multiple instructors, entries will be submitted and reviewed via an online portal on Baton Rouge Gallery's website.

AWARDS: Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Winners, as well as honorable mentions, as chosen by the exhibition's jury panel.

JURORS: A panel of three professional artists will serve as jurors for this year's exhibition.

MEDIA: Open to any media including (but not limited to) painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, photography, video or mixed media. Work must be physical and tangible and must be able to be displayed for the duration of the exhibition. All two-dimensional works must be ready to hang for a professional gallery. Works do not need to be framed prior to submission, but must be if selected for inclusion in the exhibition.

BULL CLIPS, CLIP FRAMES, AND POSTER FRAMES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. ANY WORKS USING TAPE WITH WIRE OR STRING WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. All pastel and charcoal drawings must be sprayed with fixative.

SALES: Since the purpose of the exhibition is to provide a 'real-life experience' for students, similar to what a professional artist would encounter, all work is encouraged to be for sale. Please consider realistic prices which encourage sales. Baton Rouge Gallery will retain a 50% commission from all sales. Baton Rouge Gallery DOES NOT allow Price on Request (POR) designations for any artwork.
