When people picture the St. Louis Metropolitan area, the first image that comes to mind for most is the Gateway Arch, but our region is so much more than that! The Secret St. Louis juried call for art seeks to enhance that narrative by showing off the hidden gems of the Gateway City; the people, places, institutions, events, inventions, and things that make St. Louis such an awesome place to visit and live.
In short (no disrespect intended to our stainless-steel friend), show us what you love about STL in addition to the Arch.
All interpretations of the 'hidden gems' theme, all styles and techniques, and all media suitable for wall mounting will be considered.
Opening Reception: Saturday July 15, 2023, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
JUROR: Marilynne Bradley - Marilynne Bradley is an internationally known watercolorist who, for over 60 years, has created paintings of most of the St. Louis landmarks. She is a signature artist member in multiple International Watercolor organizations. She is the writer-illustrator of 'St. Louis in Watercolor,' 'Once Upon a Time,' 'Packets on Parade,' and 'City of Century Homes.' Her works are recognized in museum exhibitions, major international juried competitions, and included in many major corporate collections. Her watercolor workshops, 'The Power of Positive Painting' and 'Wet & Wild Watercolors' are in high demand.
