About This Call
Yukon Wildlife Viewing (Department of Environment) and Yukon Arts Centre offer an artist residency at the Swan Haven Interpretive Centre during the 2026 Celebration of Swans in April. The residency takes place during the spring mass migration of tens of thousands of swans, ducks and geese. The Swan Haven Interpretive Centre is located on the shore of McClintock Bay in Marsh Lake, a prime location for bird viewing during this time.
Artists will participate in a two-week stay in the area, with the purpose of creating new artwork inspired by the location. The residency brings together nature and art through connection to place. Artists will experience the local sights and sounds, including the chorus of swans at dawn and dusk, birds silhouetted in the sunset, and the natural and cultural history of this special place.
Residency dates: April 14, 2026 - April 27, 2026. Honorarium: $3,000. Eligible categories include Craft/Traditional Arts, Photography, Drawing, Film/Video/New Media, Mixed-Media/Multi-Discipline, Painting, and Sculpture. Regional eligibility applies.
