About This Call
SciArt Santa Fe invites New Mexico artists working in art/science to submit artworks for Woven Skies: SciArt from Air to the Cosmos, a group exhibition at the Santa Fe Art Institute. The organization seeks artworks that illuminate matter, energy, form and other aspects from air to the cosmos through research-based investigation at the intersection of art and science with a high level of aesthetic quality. Submissions may include visual art, sculpture, sound, robotics, bio art, short films, documentaries and other media and performance.
SciArt Santa Fe, founded in 2019, fosters artists across disciplines that reflect the cultural diversity of New Mexico and supports research that addresses issues disproportionately affecting people of under-represented races, ethnicities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, national origins, citizenship statuses and ages, including climate change, species extinction and migration. The Santa Fe Art Institute's over 1200 square foot gallery was designed by renowned Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.
Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years or older and based in New Mexico. Entry fee is $15.00. Applicants may submit up to 2 applications. Work samples must include 5-10 images, 0-1 audio files, and 0-3 videos (5-10 total media files). Application requires a 2000 character artist statement describing how the proposed work integrates art and science, and a 2000 character description of exhibition needs. All artwork must be dropped off and picked up in person; no shipped artwork is allowed. Exhibition dates: May 9-25, 2025.
