About This Call

All practicing printmakers worldwide are invited to participate in Woven Heritage (نسيج ثقافي), an international open call for miniature prints. This inaugural exhibition is under the patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, hosted by Al Serkal Arts District in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. By participating, artists have the opportunity to exhibit their work during the 2017 Dubai Art Week, an annual event that brings art professionals together from around the globe.

This international exhibition of fine art printmaking explores the concept of sharing and discovering unique cultures around the world. Each artist will creatively represent the distinct elements of their heritage from their own perspective. All works will be exhibited at the A4 Gallery in Al Serkal Arts District and included in the exhibition catalog, which will be sent electronically to every participating artist. All submitted works will join the Zayed University Permanent Collection at the close of exhibition.

All printmaking techniques are accepted. Each artist can submit up to 2 original prints completed in the past 5 years, with works measuring 11 x 11 inches in paper size. The entry fee is $30. Entries must be submitted by February 2, 2017, with high-quality JPEG images (72 dpi, 5 MB maximum) and a brief artist's statement (up to 300 words). Physical works must be delivered unframed by February 10, 2017, to: Printmaking Department, c/o Zayed University, PO Box 19282 Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Contact [email protected] with questions.
