About This Call

Worn by the Waves gathers works that celebrate the beauty and symbolism of sea glass—from literal use of found glass to abstract evocations of its color, shape, and meaning. These fragments, shaped by nature's rhythm, reflect resilience, memory, and renewal. Set against the backdrop of a coastal summer, the exhibit invites viewers to consider how even discarded things can return to us as objects of wonder.

All mediums accepted: watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media paintings inspired by or inclusive of sea glass, mosaic, jewelry presented as fine art, digital art, photography, ceramics and small 3-dimensional sculptures, and any medium inspired by or utilizing sea glass. Each artist may submit up to 6 artworks. Entry fee is $25 for up to 6 artworks. Submissions must include an artist statement, images/media of each piece, and artist bio. No nudes, defamatory or suggestive portrayals will be considered. Only artwork of professional presentation will be accepted. Wall-hung items must be appropriately framed and/or edges adequately finished with sturdy wire as the hanging medium. Three-dimensional works must be stable to stand on their own or submitted with adequate display stands and cannot exceed 4' h x 3' w or weigh more than 75 pounds.

The call for entries closes on April 3, 2026. Participants will be notified by April 17, 2026. The show will run in Monmouth University's Pollak Gallery from June 1 – July 31, 2026. Shipping or drop-off of accepted work to Monmouth University is the responsibility of the artist.
