About This Call
Works on Paper 2022 is the 24th Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences. The juror for 2022 is Esther Adler, Curator in the Department of Drawings and Prints at The Museum of Modern Art, NYC. The competition welcomes entries of original work created within the last two years that explore varied media utilizing paper, including drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, and paper constructions that may be wall hung. The juror will select 65 artworks to be on display in the gallery. The competition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the continental USA.
Entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Submissions must include 1-3 images in JPEG format (1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB) and a 1-2 page artist statement, bio, or resume. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and height, and not exceed 10 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All submitted work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, and professionally presented. Works must be available for the entire exhibition duration and all works must be for sale. The Long Beach Island Foundation will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition.
Awards include $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, and three honorable mentions. Accepted entries will be notified by email and posted on the LBIF website by March 18, 2022. The exhibition runs April 16 - May 30, 2022. A printed catalog of selected artwork is planned. Works will be insured for 60% of the artist's stated retail value during the exhibition.
