Works on Paper 2021 - National Juried Competition

Works on Paper 2021 is the 23rd Annual National Juried Competition and Exhibition at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The competition welcomes original works created within the last two years that explore varied media utilizing paper, including drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digitally created artwork displayed as prints, and paper constructions that may be wall hung. The juror is Lanka Tattersall, Curator at MoMA.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the continental USA. The entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries (non-refundable). Submissions must include 1-3 images in JPEG format at 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB. Two-dimensional works should not exceed 60 inches in width and height, and not exceed 10 lbs; work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All submitted work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, and professionally presented. Work must be available for the duration of the exhibition and all works must be for sale. The Long Beach Island Foundation will retain a 40% commission on all works sold during the exhibition.

Three cash prizes will be awarded: $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, plus three honorable mentions. Selected artworks (70 total) will be displayed in the gallery from April 16 - May 30, 2022. Accepted entries will be notified by email by March 18, 2022. Work must be received by April 8, 2022. A printed catalog of selected artwork is planned to accompany the exhibition. Works will be insured for 60% of the artist's stated retail value during the exhibition.
