Words & Pictures

This online exhibition calls for work that incorporates both words and pictures. Photo/text is a hybrid form of artistic expression that combines photography and textual elements to convey a message or create a narrative, allowing for a multi-dimensional experience for the viewer. Images can showcase words in pictures, on pictures, or accompanying pictures. The exhibition celebrates the marriage of photography and textual expression, showcasing work by photographers as storytellers.

Entry fee is $30 for up to four images for non-members ($15 for members). Additional images may be submitted for $5 each for non-members ($3 each for members), with no limit to the number of images submitted. Submissions must include 4-20 images. All submitting artists must own the copyright to their images. AI images are not accepted. The juror is Aline Smithson, founder and editor-in-chief of Lenscratch and educator at the Los Angeles Center of Photography since 2001.

Online exhibition dates are May 7, 2024 – January 31, 2025. Acceptance notification is May 7, 2024. All selected artists' work is included in the online exhibition with event press releases and social media promotions to an audience of 180,000+ followers internationally. Awards include a Juror Award ($300), Director Award ($200), and Honorable Mentions. Eight selected exhibitors will receive virtual 20-minute reviews with the juror or executive director and curator. The Center for Fine Art Photography is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) arts organization founded in 2004 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
