Word and Weft

Webster Arts invites art submissions for Word and Weft, a national exhibition dedicated to the intersection of communication and art, particularly exploring the graphic use of language and symbolism. Open to all artists aged 18 or older residing in the US. Artists are encouraged to submit 2D and 3D work on any theme. The exhibition will consider artworks of all mediums except video. Framed wall pieces must be wired for hanging and no larger than 48" x 48". All wall works on paper must be framed. Three-dimensional works must not exceed 32" x 32" x 60" or weigh more than 50 pounds. No ceiling-hung installations or floor installations are possible at this time. All work must be the original conception and execution of the artist listed on the application. No reproductions or work previously exhibited at Webster Arts gallery will be accepted.

Submit up to 10 JPEG digital images (1000-1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 PPI, 5 MB maximum). Entry fee is $25 for the first three images and $5 for each additional entry up to 10 images. Entry fees are non-refundable. Submission deadline is June 19, 2024 at 11:59 PM MST. All artists will be notified by email on June 28, 2024. Selected works are expected to be shipped to or dropped off at Webster Arts by August 6, 2024. The exhibition runs August 9 – September 13, 2024, with an opening reception on Friday, August 9 at 6:30 PM at Webster Arts, #2 Summit Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119.

An independent juror will select work for inclusion in the exhibit and award cash prizes ($250 Best in Show, one $100 Award of Excellence). Sales are encouraged, and Webster Arts receives a 30% commission on all exhibition sales. All artwork is insured for its declared value from receipt through pickup by the carrier.
