Word and Image

Site:Brooklyn is accepting submissions for "Word and Image," a juried online exhibition examining how artists navigate the relationship between written language and visual representation. The exhibition seeks contemporary artists working across all mediums who treat text and image as related forces, allowing their interplay to drive conceptual and aesthetic development. From pictograms and illuminated manuscripts to Dadaist collages, Jenny Holzer's LED installations, and Barbara Kruger's typographic interventions, artists have long understood that text and image interact to generate new forms of meaning and visual experience.

The exhibition is juried by Caroline Goldstein, Managing Editor for Artnet, who has written art news for W magazine and other publications and worked at Osmos Gallery and International Print Center NY. The exhibition runs online from September 17 to October 17, 2025. Accepted artists will be required to upload high-resolution photo files of their work. All artwork must be priced for sale and available throughout the exhibition period. Artists retain a 60% commission on all sales.

Eligibility is open to all artists 18 years of age or older working in any media. The entry fee is $26.00 for three images, with an additional $10.00 per image (up to 12 images total). Up to 3 videos may also be submitted. The submission deadline is August 25, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification of acceptance will be sent September 3, 2025. Only original works may be submitted, and all entry fees are non-refundable.
