About This Call
Crooked Tree Arts Center invites Michigan artists to submit work for the exhibition Wooden & Earthen. The call seeks work that highlights the raw beauty of natural elements—wood, stone, earth, and natural fibers—transformed through artistic vision.
Accepting submissions in: sculpture using wood, stone, or natural materials (utilitarian or decorative); ceramics using raw clay and natural glazes; paintings, drawings, photography, or prints on natural wood surfaces (no plywood, MDF, or manufactured products); artwork on handmade paper; and works using natural, handcrafted dyes and/or fibers on natural materials. Animal or human-based mediums and insects are not permitted; bones are not allowed but fossils are acceptable. Works must not exceed 60 inches at their greatest dimension and must weigh up to 50 pounds (contact for exceptions).
Eligibility: Open to Michigan artists 18 and over. Works must have been created and completed within the last three years. All work must arrive assembled and stable for safety. Diptychs and triptychs are allowed but submitted and priced as one piece. Submission deadline: June 9, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee: $30.00 per artist ($20.00 for CTAC members, free for Guild members). Submit up to three works online via CaFE with images (1-3 required). Notification will be sent June 13, 2025. Exhibition dates: July 11 - August 22, 2025 at Carnegie Galleries in Traverse City. Work delivery: June 25 - July 2, 2025. Artists are responsible for transportation. Unsold artwork must be picked up between August 25 - August 30, 2025. Crooked Tree Arts Center retains a 40% commission on all sales.
