About This Call
Women's Works is a juried fine art exhibition celebrating women artists, presented annually by the Northwest Area Arts Council at the Old Court House Arts Center in Woodstock, IL. This is the 32nd Anniversary of the show. The judge for this year is Chicago-area artist Ginny Sykes, who works in painting, installation, performance and video informed by feminism.
Women artists 18 or older may submit original work completed in the last two years. No previously accepted works in either Real People or Women's Works will be accepted. All work must be for sale with a 30% commission on sold work. Work must be available through the entire run of the show (March 1 - April 14, 2019). Gallery size limitation is eight feet in any single dimension and 50 lbs. Each entrant may submit up to three digital images representing separate pieces for jurying. A maximum of two works per artist may be accepted.
The entry fee is $40, with a $10 discount for current NAAC Members or applicants to Real People 2018. Cash prizes totaling more than $1,500 will be awarded. The winner of the Founders Award receives a free month-long solo exhibition at the Old Court House Arts Center. Biafarin has donated 3 Blue and 3 Gold awards. The entry deadline is January 20, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notifications will be emailed by February 8, 2019. Work must be at the gallery by February 24, 2019 for setup. The opening reception is Saturday, March 9, 2019 (6-9 p.m. for artists, 7-9 p.m. for general public).
