About This Call
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, in cooperation with the Kansas City Chapter of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, invites submissions for Women to Watch (Metals). This exhibition explores metal as a medium and features emerging or underrepresented women artists. The work of art must incorporate metal in part or in whole.
Eligibility: Women artists within the first ten years of their career, currently living in Kansas or Missouri, within 60 miles of Kansas City, MO. There is no entry fee. Artists must submit a one-page resume, one-page artist statement, up to 10 images of five works, and an image checklist. Four to six artists will be selected from submissions. A studio visit with each selected artist will determine the actual works for the exhibition. The juror is Barbara O'Brien, Executive Director, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art.
Selected artists will have their works included in an exhibition at Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art from June 16, 2017 to January 28, 2018. There is an opportunity to be selected by the curator from the National Museum of Women in the Arts for the national Women to Watch Exhibition 2018, though artists accepted to Kemper Museum's exhibition are not guaranteed participation in NMWA's exhibition. Artists will be notified of acceptance by April 15, 2017. Artworks must be available from June 1, 2017 through February 15, 2018. A private reception is scheduled for June 21, 2017.
